Ranchi Implements Traffic Restrictions Ahead of Chhath Festival
Ranchi, Oct 2025 : In view of the upcoming Chhath festival, the Ranchi Police have announced extensive traffic arrangements for October 27 and 28 to ensure smooth vehicular movement and manage crowds during the celebrations. The rules, issued on Wednesday, will apply to all vehicles except emergency services.
The most significant restriction affects heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). All such vehicles will be barred from entering the city between 8:00 am and 11:00 pm on October 27 and from 2:00 am to 10:00 am on October 28. HGVs will, however, be permitted to use the Ring Road to reach their destinations. The city’s existing no-entry regulations will remain in force during the festival period.
In addition, restrictions have been placed on small cargo vehicles, which will not be allowed to move anywhere in the city from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on October 27. Furthermore, autos and e-rickshaws will be prohibited from plying between Chandni Chowk, Kanke, and Ram Mandir from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on the same day.
Traffic on certain key routes will also be affected. On October 27, the stretch from Firayal Lal to Chadhri Talab and from Jail Chowk to Firayal Lal will be completely closed to vehicles. To facilitate festivalgoers, specific areas near the ghats have been designated as parking zones.
Ranchi Police have indicated that other roads may be temporarily diverted or blocked as required to manage traffic effectively and maintain safety near the ghats.
Authorities have appealed to the public to adhere strictly to the traffic rules, cooperate with enforcement personnel, and plan travel in advance. The measures aim to ensure that the Chhath festival is celebrated safely, peacefully, and in an orderly manner across the city.
