Sawai Madhopur joins Rajasthan’s solar revolution with new plants under PM-KUSUM scheme
Sawai Madhopur becomes a key participant in making Rajasthan a solar energy leader — A major step towards energy self-reliance under PM-KUSUM scheme — 2.94 MW solar plants established at Kolada and Ramsinghpura under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma — Over 250 farmer families to get daytime solar power for irrigation
Jaipur, Oct 2025 : Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary energy policy and the able leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan has emerged as the top state in the country in the field of renewable energy. Through the PM-KUSUM Scheme, solar energy generation in the state has reached new heights, with Sawai Madhopur district becoming an active participant in this national energy revolution.
Recently, a 1.82 MW solar power plant was established at Kolada 33/11 KV sub-station area in the Bonli subdivision. This is the 956th solar plant in the state, significantly enhancing Sawai Madhopur’s solar generation capacity. Under Components A and C of the PM-KUSUM scheme, Rajasthan has so far commissioned decentralized solar plants of over 2,000 MW capacity, setting a new national benchmark. The state ranks first in the country under Component-A and third under Component-C, after Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Additionally, a 1.12 MW decentralized solar plant has started operations at Ramsinghpura 33/11 KV sub-station in the Sawai Madhopur circle. Together, the Kolada and Ramsinghpura plants — with a total capacity of 2.94 MW — will provide daytime solar-based electricity for irrigation to over 250 farmer families.
Sawai Madhopur district is showing commendable progress under both Components A and C of the PM-KUSUM scheme. Once all plants are commissioned, farmers will receive electricity during the day for irrigation, leading to higher agricultural productivity. At present, the district has 3 MW of operational solar capacity, while work is in progress on an additional 3.67 MW. Plants of 1.42 MW at Sarasop and 2.25 MW at Kolada are in the final stages of completion.
A new sunrise of prosperity for farmers
The PM-KUSUM scheme has brought new energy to the lives of farmers across the country. Farmers are now irrigating their fields during the day using solar power, freeing themselves from dependence on grid electricity and diesel. This has reduced production costs and opened new avenues for additional income.
The Energy Department and power distribution companies are effectively implementing the scheme at the grassroots level. Recognizing Rajasthan’s outstanding progress, the Central Government has sanctioned an additional 397 MW capacity for 2024–25 and 5,000 MW for 2025–26 under Component-A. Under Component-C, approval has been granted for two lakh additional solar pumps in both years. So far, the Centre has allocated Rajasthan 5,500 MW under Component-A and 4 lakh solar pumps under Component-C.
Boost to agricultural and domestic power connections
The state government has amended the Agricultural Connection Policy–2017 to prioritize the release of agricultural connections on feeders linked to PM-KUSUM solar plants. This decision will greatly benefit farmers in Sawai Madhopur, where 1,590 agricultural connections are pending and 480 new applications have been received. The new policy will ensure faster approvals and enable daytime power supply for irrigation.
During a special campaign launched before Diwali (October 1–20), 501 domestic electricity connections were issued in just 20 days in Sawai Madhopur.
Districts like Sawai Madhopur, Kolada, Ramsinghpura, Boli, Mitrapura, and Borkheda are playing a crucial role in this national achievement. The decentralized solar plants in these areas are not only providing daytime power to farmers but are also contributing to environmental conservation, employment generation, and rural prosperity.
