Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis: ₹11,000 Crore to Be Distributed to Farmers Affected by Excess Rainfall Within 15 Days
₹8,000 Crore Already Disbursed; Update Shared After Cabinet Meeting
Mumbai, Oct 2025 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday announced that ₹11,000 crore will be distributed within the next 15 days to farmers affected by excessive rainfall across the state. So far, ₹8,000 crore has already been disbursed as part of a relief package worth ₹32,000 crore announced to compensate for crop losses caused by heavy rains. The assistance has so far benefited nearly 40 lakh farmers, Fadnavis said while addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting.
“The government stands firmly with the farmers affected by excessive rainfall and is extending all possible support,” said the Chief Minister. He added that the Cabinet had approved the release of an additional ₹11,000 crore as a special measure to ensure that at least 90% of farmers in affected districts receive assistance within the next 15 days.
Fadnavis clarified that funds had been previously distributed based on the lists received from districts. Farmers who had earlier received compensation for up to two hectares of land will now be given additional financial aid for the remaining area.
He also noted that delays in some cases were due to technical issues in bank accounts and errors in farmers’ records. “In certain cases, multiple bank accounts have been linked to the same beneficiary. These discrepancies are being verified so that the remaining 10% of eligible farmers can also receive immediate assistance,” he said.
To ensure transparency and prevent misuse, the government has implemented e-KYC verification. “The state government has access to the AgriStack database, which contains details of registered farmers. For those whose information is already verified, funds are being directly transferred to their accounts without additional e-KYC,” the Chief Minister added.
CM Urges Farmers to Register for Crop Sales
Chief Minister Fadnavis also appealed to farmers to register for the sale of agricultural produce, noting that registration has brought greater transparency and ensured fair minimum support prices for farmers.
“In the past, traders used to purchase produce from farmers at lower rates and sell it to the government at higher prices,” he said. “Now, only registered traders or government procurement centres offering the officially declared support price will be allowed to purchase agricultural goods.”
Fadnavis emphasized that this system will protect farmers from exploitation, ensure timely payments, and strengthen confidence in the government’s procurement mechanism.
