Nitish Kumar Targets Lalu Family, Highlights Development Achievements in Jamalpur Rally

Patna, Oct 2025 : Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday addressed a massive election rally at Khand Bihari in the Jamalpur assembly constituency of Munger district, urging people to vote for the Janata Dal (United) candidate. In his speech, Nitish Kumar launched a sharp attack on the Lalu Prasad Yadav family, accusing them of promoting dynastic politics and neglecting Bihar’s growth during their tenure.

Recounting the state’s condition before 2005, Nitish said Bihar lacked both law and order as well as development. “People were afraid to leave their homes after sunset. The education system had collapsed, roads were in ruins, and electricity was almost non-existent,” he said. “After 2005, we restored rule of law and brought development to every corner of the state.”

Taking a direct dig at the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Nitish said, “When Lalu Prasad Yadav lost power after seven years, he made his wife the Chief Minister – this was the height of dynastic politics. He then brought his sons into politics too. Their only goal has been to keep power within the family, not to serve the people.”

Highlighting the achievements of his government, the Chief Minister said his administration had prioritized education, employment, healthcare, and women’s empowerment. He announced that 2.58 lakh teachers had been appointed through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), while recruitment for another 28,000 teachers is ongoing, taking the total number of teachers in the state to 5.2 lakh.

Speaking about improvements in healthcare, Nitish said free medicines and treatment have been provided in government hospitals since 2006. “We are establishing 27 new medical colleges across Bihar to expand access to quality medical education and healthcare services,” he added.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the government’s employment generation efforts under the ‘Saat Nishchay Yojana’ (Seven Resolves Scheme), noting that 40 lakh people have already received jobs or livelihood opportunities. “Our goal is to provide employment to one crore youth over the next five years,” he declared.

On women’s empowerment, Nitish said Bihar leads the country in gender inclusion. “We have ensured 50% reservation for women in Panchayati Raj and urban local bodies and 35% representation in the police force – the highest in India. The number of Jeevika Didis (women self-help group members) has now reached 1.40 crore, strengthening rural livelihoods and financial independence.”

Nitish further announced an increase in old age and disability pensions to Rs 1,100 per month, reflecting his government’s commitment to social welfare. He highlighted that since 2018, every household in Bihar has had access to electricity, and now 125 units of free electricity are being provided to consumers each month.

Praising coordination between the state and central governments, Nitish said Bihar had received sufficient funds in the 2024 Union Budget. He added that several new initiatives have been planned for 2025, including the establishment of a Makhana (fox nut) Board to promote local industries and farmers’ income.

Concluding his address, Nitish Kumar said, “The state and central governments are working hand in hand to accelerate Bihar’s progress. With your support, we will continue to take the state forward on the path of development and good governance.”
