Udhayanidhi Stalin Opens ₹11.8 Cr Projects, Lays Foundations for New Works in Vellore

Nov 2025 : Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday inaugurated a wide range of development projects and welfare initiatives in Vellore district, delivering benefits worth over ₹414 crore to nearly 50,000 people.

At a district-level government function, the Deputy Chief Minister opened 31 completed projects worth ₹11.80 crore, covering sectors such as rural development, social welfare, women’s empowerment, health infrastructure, municipal administration, and cooperation. These included new school classrooms, anganwadi buildings, primary health centre facilities, fair-price shops, revenue offices, and renovated blocks at the Vellore Government Medical College Hospital.

He also laid foundation stones for 15 new projects worth ₹17.91 crore, which will bring upgraded sports facilities, new classrooms, improved medical infrastructure, and modernised public buildings across multiple panchayat unions and urban areas.

In one of the day’s major welfare drives, the Deputy Chief Minister distributed government assistance worth ₹414.15 crore to 49,021 beneficiaries across various state departments. These included house site pattas, agricultural support, bank loans for women’s self-help groups, machinery for farmers, assistance for differently abled persons, medical insurance cards, rehabilitation funds, and education and marriage support.

Large-scale housing benefits were rolled out under schemes such as Kalaignar Kanavu Illam, with 3,500 families receiving orders for house construction, and 499 families receiving support for home reconstruction. More than 27,000 women from self-help groups received bank linkages and financial support under the Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission.

Agricultural and allied departments provided machinery, livestock support, and integrated farm-development packages to over 400 beneficiaries. Welfare assistance for SC/ST, BC/MBC communities, and labourers was also distributed.

Government Welfare Schemes

During the event, welfare assistance worth ₹414.15 crore was distributed to 49,021 beneficiaries under various departments:

  • Revenue Department: House site pattas, accident and education assistance under CM’s Uzhavar Padhukappu Scheme for 8,596 people.
  • Rural Development: Housing orders under Kalaignar Kanavu Illam Scheme for 3,500 people, reconstruction orders for 499 houses, MGNREGA job cards for 70 people, bank linkages for 27,127 women SHG members.
  • Welfare Departments: Equipment for differently abled persons, safety bonds for girl children, medical insurance cards for 3,687 beneficiaries.
  • Agriculture & Animal Husbandry: Machinery, integrated farm kits, livestock purchase assistance, farmer producer support.
  • BC/MBC & SC/ST Welfare: Free sewing machines, educational assistance, loans, and community development funds.
  • Electricity Department: New electricity service connection orders for 310 beneficiaries.
  • Labour Department: Education, marriage, and natural calamity relief assistance.
  • Cooperation Department: Farm loans, SHG loans, and livestock care loans for 1,426 beneficiaries.
  • Prohibition Dept: Rehabilitation assistance.
  • School Education: Incentive awards for 8 meritorious students.

MLAs, MPs, district officials, municipal representatives, and government officers participated in the event.
