22nd Annual Commonwealth Parliamentary Association India Region Zone–III Conference
Kohima, Nov 2025: The 22nd Annual Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone–III Conference is currently being held in Kohima, Nagaland, from 9–13 November 2025. From Mizoram, Assembly Speaker Pu Lalbiakzama, Deputy Speaker Pu Lalfamkima, and three MLAs—Dr. Lorraine Lalpekliana Chinzah (Adviser to the Chief Minister), Pu T. Lalhlimpuia, and Pu Jeje Lalpekhlua—are attending the conference. Along with them, Additional Secretary Pu Lalthangmawia and several other officers and staff from the Assembly Secretariat are also participating.
The theme of the conference is “Policy, Progress and People: Legislatures as Catalysts of Change.”
The conference was formally inaugurated by Shri Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, who is the chief guest. Shri Harivansh, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, along with several other distinguished Members of Parliament, are also attending the event.
Today (10 November 2025), a Plenary Session was held on the theme “Role of Legislatures in Achieving Vikshit Bharat 2047.”
During this session, Mizoram Speaker Pu Lalbiakzama and MLA Dr. Lorraine Lalpekliana Chinzah (Adviser to the Chief Minister) delivered their addresses.
Tomorrow (11 November 2025), the conference will continue with Plenary Session–II, which will focus on the theme:
“Climate Change – In the Light of Recent Cloudbursts and Landslides in Some Northeast Regions.”
