Dharmendra Stable, Under Observation at Breach Candy Hospital

Mumbai, Nov 2025 : Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra is reported to be stable and under medical observation after being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai earlier on Monday. The 89-year-old star was taken to the hospital following breathing difficulties, prompting doctors to place him under close monitoring.

Initial reports suggested that Dharmendra had briefly been put on ventilator support. However, his son Sunny Deol’s team issued a formal statement clarifying the situation and urging fans not to speculate.

“Mr. Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further comments and updates will be shared as available. We request everyone to pray for his speedy recovery and respect the family’s right to privacy,” the statement read.

The actor’s latest hospitalisation comes barely a week after he visited the same facility for a routine medical check-up, which had already raised concerns among fans about his health. During that earlier visit, his wife and veteran actress Hema Malini had reassured the media that he was doing well and that there was no cause for alarm.

Dharmendra has recently been living at his farmhouse in Khandala along with his first wife, Prakash Kaur. Family sources earlier indicated that the actor preferred staying there due to worsening pollution levels in Mumbai, which had been aggravating respiratory discomfort.

Widely regarded as one of Hindi cinema’s most iconic and enduring stars, Dharmendra’s contribution to Indian cinema spans more than six decades. Born in 1935 in Punjab, he entered films after winning a prestigious talent hunt organised by Filmfare magazine and Bimal Roy Productions in 1958. The same contest would later introduce another superstar, Rajesh Khanna, to Hindi cinema.

Dharmendra’s early performances in the 1960s quickly established him as a versatile actor capable of handling romance, drama, comedy, and action with equal ease. Films like Phool Aur Patthar solidified his status as a leading man, while his legendary portrayal of Veeru in the 1975 classic Sholay remains etched in Bollywood history.

His comic brilliance in Chupke Chupke, emotional depth in dramas like Satyakam, and charisma in multi-starrer hits such as Yaadon Ki Baaraat made him one of the most beloved and bankable stars of his era. Off-screen, Dharmendra is celebrated for his simplicity, warmth, and humble demeanour, qualities that have endeared him to generations of fans.

As the actor remains under observation, prayers and well-wishes continue to pour in from across the film fraternity and his enormous fan base worldwide.
