NIA Takes Over Delhi Blast Probe as Amit Shah Orders Fast-Track Investigation
New Delhi, Nov 2025 : The Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday officially handed over the investigation into the Delhi blast to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), a day after a car explosion near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station killed at least eight people and left dozens injured.
The Haryana-registered vehicle erupted into flames on Monday evening, triggering panic in the high-security zone. Preliminary assessments by security agencies indicate that the blast was powerful and may have been intended to cause mass casualties. Investigators are also probing the possibility of a suicide attack, according to Delhi Police sources.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday reviewed the progress of the investigation and the ongoing multi-state crackdown linked to the case. Chairing a high-level meeting at his residence, Shah reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s firm resolve to bring those responsible to justice. He directed agencies to “reach the root of the conspiracy at the earliest” and instructed them to pursue every possible lead without delay.
The meeting was attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar Deka, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and NIA Director General Sadanand Vasant Date. Jammu & Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat joined the briefing virtually.
In one of the largest probe operations in recent years, the government has deployed more than 500 officers from central and state agencies. Security across Delhi-NCR has been strengthened, with NSG commandos positioned at key installations and vulnerable public locations.
Investigative teams are currently analyzing over 1,000 CCTV footage clips from the vicinity and surrounding routes. Agencies are also monitoring social media platforms and retrieving mobile dump data from all devices active around the Red Fort area at the time of the explosion. Officials believe the data may help track suspicious communication patterns or identify individuals linked to the car.
Home Minister Shah instructed the NIA, Intelligence Bureau, and Delhi Police Special Cell to work in complete coordination. “No stone will be left unturned,” he assured.
Meanwhile, high alerts have been issued in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Mumbai. Security has been intensified around metro stations, religious sites, crowded public hubs, and key government buildings to prevent any further attempt at disruption.
The NIA has begun its formal probe and is expected to release preliminary findings soon.
