TN CM Stalin Flags Off 80 Patrol Vehicles Worth ₹12 Crore to Boost Women’s Safety
To ensure women’s safety under the Police Department, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru M.K. Stalin today (11.11.2025) flagged off a fleet of 80 new pink patrol vehicles purchased at a cost of ₹12 crore for use across major cities.
At a function held at the Chief Secretariat, the Hon’ble Chief Minister inaugurated these pink patrol vehicles, which aim to strengthen security measures for women under the Police Department.
The police force plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens. To strengthen policing, several initiatives are being implemented—such as constructing new police stations and residential quarters, procuring vehicles for patrol units, and upgrading infrastructure.
As announced in the 2025–2026 budget for the Police Department, 80 pink patrol vehicles were approved for deployment in metropolitan and major urban areas to enhance women’s security.
Accordingly, these 80 pink patrol vehicles have been procured at a cost of ₹12 crore, and the Hon’ble Chief Minister formally handed them over for public use today.
These pink patrol vehicles will be deployed in Chennai, Coimbatore, Salem, Tiruppur, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Madurai, and other major city limits, enabling the police to provide specialized and rapid response to protect women’s safety.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Thiru N. Muruganandam, Additional Chief Secretary (Home, Prohibition & Excise) Thiru T.S. Kumar, and Director General of Police/Head of Police Force Thiru K. Shankar Jeyaram, participated in the event.
