Mumbai : Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare emphasized that preventing online sexual exploitation of children is a collective responsibility. Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘SAFE WEB FOR CHILDREN’ program, Tatkare highlighted the crucial role of parents in limiting children’s exposure to mobile phones. While the internet provides valuable knowledge, it has also increased risks of exploitation.

The program, launched in collaboration with the Maharashtra State Child Rights Protection Commission and Child Fund India, was held at Sahyadri Guest House. The event was attended by State Child Rights Protection Commission Chairperson Adv. Dr. Sushiben Shah, Commissioner of Women and Child Development Prashant Naranvare, Integrated Child Development Scheme Commissioner Kailas Pagare, Special Inspector General of Police Suhas Warke, Deputy Commissioner of Police Datta Nalavde, and Rajesh Ranjan Singh from Child Fund India.

She urged that new technologies be used safely and that parents educate themselves about cyber threats to protect their children. Tatkare praised the joint initiative by the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and Child Fund India and affirmed support from her department.

Adv. Shah noted the importance of raising awareness about web safety among children, women, and parents. The initiative aims to address the rise in cyber crimes and ensure children’s safety online.
