Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unani colleges in Lucknow to get the facility, students will understand complex body structures through virtual dissection

Uttar Pradesh to become the fourth state in the country to provide the 3-D Anatomage Table facility

Lucknow, May 2026 : The Yogi Government is set to take another major step towards integrating AYUSH medical education with modern technologies. The government is preparing to provide state-of-the-art 3-D Anatomage Tables (digital cadaver labs) in AYUSH medical institutions to make study and training more effective. The objective is to provide modern and scientific learning of human anatomy to doctors and students associated with Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unani systems of medicine.

In fact, the availability of cadavers has long remained a major challenge in medical education. Due to limited resources for anatomy studies in AYUSH institutions, students often face difficulties in practical learning. Keeping this in view, the Yogi Government has prepared a strategy to integrate modern digital technology into medical education. Uttar Pradesh will become the fourth state in the country to adopt this system.

AYUSH Director General and Mission Director Chaitra V stated that considering the shortage of cadavers in medical education, the Yogi Government has prepared a strategy to provide 3-D Anatomage Tables to students of AYUSH institutions for anatomy studies.

Under this initiative, the facility will be provided at the Government Ayurveda College, Government Homeopathy Medical College and Government Takmil-ut-Tib Unani College in Lucknow.

With this facility, students and practicing doctors in the AYUSH sector will be able to study the internal structure of the human body in great detail even without real cadavers.

She stated, the 3-D Anatomage Table is an advanced digital device, also referred to as a “digital cadaver lab.” It is a giant touch-screen based system featuring high-resolution 3-D models of the human body. Students and doctors can study the skin, muscles, nerves, blood vessels and bones of the human body layer by layer.

The AYUSH Director General said, the biggest feature of the 3-D Anatomage Table is virtual dissection. It eliminates the need for real cadavers, as various organs of the body can be studied through digital models. Students can rotate, zoom and observe any part of the body from different angles through simple touch-screen gestures. In addition, features such as X-ray view enable detailed understanding of internal body structures.

This technology is not limited only to education, but is also proving useful in medical treatment and surgical planning. CT scans and MRI scans of patients can be uploaded to create three-dimensional models, helping doctors conduct more accurate analysis of diseases and prepare better treatment plans.

The 3-D Anatomage Table helps medical students understand the complex structures of the human body in a realistic manner. It enhances students’ practical understanding, enabling them to become more skilled doctors and surgeons in the future.

Currently, this facility is available only in select institutions across the country. At the All India Institute of Ayurveda in Delhi, virtual dissection is conducted in the “Sharir Rachana” department through this system. Apart from this, the technology is also being used at the National Institute of Ayurveda in Jaipur and SDM Ayurveda College in Hassan, Karnataka.

After the launch of this facility in Uttar Pradesh, the state will become the fourth in the country where 3-D Anatomage Tables will be used in AYUSH medical education.
