Tamil Nadu Hikes DA for Government Employees and Teachers to 58% from July 2025
Chennai, Nov 2025 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that the Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and teachers will be increased from the existing 55% to 58%, effective July 1, 2025.
The Chief Minister stated that the Tamil Nadu Government, driven by a spirit of compassion and commitment to public welfare, continues to introduce and implement a range of progressive welfare schemes for the people. Among those playing a key role in executing these initiatives are the government officers and teachers who serve at the grassroots level.
In recognition of their contribution and well-being, the state government has decided to revise the DA on par with the increase announced by the Central Government. With this revision, the DA for state employees will now rise by 3%, moving from 55% to 58%.
This increase will benefit around 16 lakh government employees, teachers, pensioners, and family pensioners across the state. The government estimates that the hike will entail an additional ₹1,829 crore in annual expenditure.
The Chief Minister emphasized that this financial commitment underscores the government’s dedication to supporting its workforce and ensuring their welfare even amid fiscal challenges.
