NDA Secures Landslide Victory in Bihar; Nitish Kumar Thanks PM Modi, Allies for “Massive Mandate”

Patna, Nov 2025 : The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has scored a sweeping victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, crossing well beyond the 122-seat majority mark required to form the government. According to the latest Election Commission figures, the NDA has secured 152 seats, reaffirming its dominance in the state’s political landscape, while the Grand Alliance has been reduced to just 21 seats, one of its poorest performances in recent years.

Within the NDA, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the single-largest party, winning 76 seats. The Janata Dal (United), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, follows with 59 seats, consolidating its position as a decisive partner in the ruling coalition. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) [LJP(R)] has also delivered a strong performance, winning 14 out of the 29 seats it contested.

The outcome has dealt a severe blow to the Grand Alliance. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has managed only 16 seats, while the Indian National Congress has secured just 3 seats, marking a steep decline from its previous electoral tally.

Following the results, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed deep gratitude to voters and credited the alliance’s unity for the overwhelming support it received. In a post shared on Instagram, he thanked the people of Bihar for the “massive majority” and acknowledged the contributions of NDA partners, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), the Rashtriya Lok Morcha, and the Hindustani Awam Morcha.

“The people of the state have expressed their trust in our government by giving us a massive majority in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections,” he said. “For this, I bow to all the respected voters of the state and offer my heartfelt gratitude. I also express my sincere thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, for his support.”

Highlighting the coalition’s cohesion, he added:
“In this election, the NDA demonstrated complete unity and achieved a landslide victory. I extend my gratitude to all our allies—Shri Chirag Paswan, Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Shri Upendra Kushwaha—for their invaluable support. With the collective strength of our alliance, Bihar will progress even further and take its place among the most developed states in the country.”

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the NDA’s performance as a “victory for good governance, development, public welfare, and social justice.” He affirmed that the resounding mandate would energize the alliance to work with renewed commitment toward Bihar’s growth and prosperity.

With the NDA firmly in control, the focus now shifts to government formation and the roadmap for fulfilling the promises made during the campaign—particularly job creation, infrastructure expansion, and expanding welfare measures for youth, women, and marginalized communities.
