Patiala House Court Sends Aamir Rashid Ali to 10-Day NIA Custody in Red Fort Terror Attack Case
New Delhi, Nov 2025 : The Patiala House Court on Monday remanded Aamir Rashid Ali, a Kashmiri resident accused of conspiring with Dr. Umar Muhammad Nabi in the November 10 terror attack near the Red Fort, to 10 days’ custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The NIA had requested 10 days of custodial interrogation, which the court granted after reviewing the agency’s case details.
Ali was arrested on November 16 during an extensive search operation launched by the NIA after it formally took over the investigation from the Delhi Police. Officials confirmed that the car used in the explosion was registered in Ali’s name, placing him at the center of the probe.
According to the NIA’s preliminary findings, Ali, a resident of Samboora in Pampore, Jammu and Kashmir, allegedly conspired with the suicide bomber, Dr. Umar Nabi, to plan and execute the attack. Investigators stated that Ali travelled to Delhi specifically to help procure the vehicle that was later converted into a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED) and used in the blast.
The NIA said it has now forensically confirmed the identity of the deceased driver of the explosive-laden vehicle as Dr. Umar Nabi, an Assistant Professor in the General Medicine Department at Al Falah University in Faridabad and a resident of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a significant development, the agency has also seized another car belonging to Dr. Nabi. The vehicle is currently being examined for forensic and digital evidence that could shed more light on the planning and execution of the attack.
So far, the agency has examined 73 witnesses, including those injured in the November 10 explosion that sent shockwaves through the national capital. Officials said the NIA continues to pursue multiple leads and is working to uncover the broader conspiracy behind the attack as part of case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.
The investigation is being carried out in close coordination with the Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, and several central security agencies. Teams are conducting inquiries in multiple states to identify all individuals linked to the terror plot.
Meanwhile, in a parallel development on November 15, the Delhi Police Crime Branch intensified its inquiries into Al Falah University, where Dr. Nabi taught. The Crime Branch registered two FIRs against the institution—one related to cheating and the other concerning forgery—as part of the wider investigation into the November 10 bombing.
The NIA is expected to interrogate Ali over the next 10 days to determine his exact role and to identify others involved in the conspiracy.
