Chhattisgarh received national-level recognition for outstanding work in the field of water conservation
President Droupadi Murmu honoured 12 districts of the state in New Delhi

This award will be inspirational in securing the water future of the state: Chief Minister Shri Sai

Raipur, Nov 2025 : By achieving remarkable accomplishments in the field of water conservation and community participation, 12 districts of Chhattisgarh—Raipur, Gariaband, Mahasamund, Rajnandgaon, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, Dhamtari, Balod, Balrampur, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Durg, and Surajpur—have created a new history at the national level. In Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, today at the 6th National Water Awards and Jal Sanchay Janbhagidari 1.0 Award Ceremony, President Smt. Droupadi Murmu honoured these districts.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and due to sensitive administrative efforts, Chhattisgarh has earned a special identity across the country in the direction of water conservation. In the last two years, the innovative efforts of the state government and public participation have achieved new dimensions in the direction of water harvesting. The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to the citizens and the district administration of these districts. He said that the awareness that has arisen among people regarding water harvesting will promote the proper use of water. The Chief Minister said that this award will be inspirational in securing the water future of the state.

Raipur district has been honoured for excellent work in the Jal Sanchay Janbhagidari campaign. Among municipal corporations across the country, Raipur Municipal Corporation secured first place, while Raipur district secured third place in the Eastern Zone Category 01. Raipur district and the municipal corporation together turned community participation into a widespread water harvesting campaign. Raipur Municipal Corporation carried out 33,082 works, and the district administration carried out 36,282 works.

Balod district secured first place in Category 01 for best performing, and an incentive amount of 2 crore rupees was also provided. Here, 92,742 new water structures were constructed. Rajnandgaon district secured second place in Category 01 and was given an incentive amount of 2 crore rupees. Here, 58,967 water harvesting works were completed through public participation.

Mahasamund district has been honoured with first place under Category 2. Here, 35,182 water structures were constructed. Balodabazar-Bhatapara district secured second place under Category 2 and was awarded an incentive amount of 1 crore rupees. Here, 30,927 structures were constructed. Gariaband district secured third place in the country in Category 2 and received an incentive amount of 1 crore rupees. Here, 26,025 works for better maintenance of surface water were carried out.

Bilaspur secured first place in Category 03 and received an incentive prize of 25 lakh rupees. Here, 21,058 water structures were constructed. Durg district secured 16th place in Category 03 and was given 25 lakh rupees as incentive. Here, 5,010 water conservation projects were constructed. Balrampur district was honoured with 6th place in Category 03 and was given 25 lakh rupees as incentive. Here, 8,644 water conservation projects were constructed.

Dhamtari district was honoured with 8th place in Category 3 and was awarded 25 lakh rupees as incentive. Here, 7,674 water conservation projects were constructed. Raigarh district was honoured with second place in Category 3 and was awarded 25 lakh rupees as incentive. Here, 19,088 water conservation projects were constructed. Surajpur district was honoured with 12th place in Category 3 and was awarded 25 lakh rupees as incentive, and here 5,797 water conservation projects were constructed.
