Strict Crime Control to Make Madhya Pradesh Police the Nations Best: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the recent promotion drive undertaken by the State Government has resulted in the largest-ever number of promotions in the Police Department. He directed the police force to further strengthen law and order, exercise strict control over crime, and deliver better outcomes. The Chief Minister said that every effort should be made to establish the Madhya Pradesh Police as the best police force in the country. Emphasising that citizens repose great trust in the police, he urged officers to uphold and strengthen that confidence.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav congratulated senior police officers on the successful completion of the promotion process for nearly 25,000 personnel across various ranks in the Police Department. He was addressing a meeting of senior police officers at the Police Headquarters. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Shri Sanjay Kumar Shukla; Additional Chief Secretary, Chief Minister’s Office, Shri Neeraj Mandloi; Director General of Police, Shri Kailash Makwana; and other senior officials.

Effective Implementation of the New Criminal Laws

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed officials to ensure the effective implementation of the new criminal laws introduced by the Central Government across the State. He directed senior police officers, from the State capital to the district level, to make comprehensive preparations for the upcoming festival season and Independence Day celebrations to ensure the maintenance of robust law and order across the State. The Chief Minister emphasised that the police force must remain fully alert during festivals.

Police Should Contribute to Development in Naxal-Free Areas

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the determined leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, significant success has been achieved in eliminating Naxalism, including the restoration of normalcy in the Naxal-affected areas of Madhya Pradesh. He said that with the end of Naxalism, development activities in these regions should be accelerated, and the police should actively contribute to the region’s socio-economic development through constructive initiatives.

Ensure Continuous Implementation of the Anti-Drug Campaign

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that the anti-drug campaign be implemented continuously across the State. He noted, referring to the growing popularity of the slogan ‘Staying Away from Drugs is Essential’, that citizens have actively participated by taking anti-drug pledges. The Chief Minister instructed officials to work towards achieving the targets set under the anti-drug campaign by the Union Home Minister and said Madhya Pradesh should strive to achieve the goal of a drug-free State ahead of the stipulated timeline, just as it successfully addressed the challenge of Naxalism.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also directed the Police Department to coordinate with the Higher Education Department to intensify awareness campaigns in educational institutions. He said individuals and organisations making outstanding contributions to the anti-drug campaign should be recognised and rewarded. The Chief Minister further instructed strict action to curb the illegal transportation of narcotic substances along the State’s inter-State borders.

Provide Licensed Security Personnel to Industries and Institutions

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that with rapid industrial expansion in Madhya Pradesh, the need for professional security services has also increased. He directed officials to facilitate the deployment of licensed security personnel through the State Industrial Security Force (SISF) for industries and other institutions. The Chief Minister also emphasised the need to anticipate future developmental and social challenges and ensure that senior officers proactively address emerging issues.

Promotion and Recruitment Drive Should Continue

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the State Government has approved the required police posts and is continuously strengthening the police force to maintain peace, harmony and law and order. He directed senior police officers, from the State capital to the district level, to make comprehensive preparations for the upcoming festival season and Independence Day celebrations to ensure robust law and order across the State. Promotions from Constable to Sub-Inspector and Inspector had remained pending for several years. The Chief Minister said that, as in other departments, promotions in the Police Department would translate into improved public service delivery. He directed that Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) be convened regularly whenever vacancies arise and that a promotion calendar be prepared. He also instructed that backlog vacancies be eliminated and that there should be no delay in filling sanctioned posts.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav further directed that all vacancies across every level of the Police Department be filled without delay. He called for special attention to the recruitment of eligible youth belonging to the State’s three Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs)—Baiga, Sahariya and Bharia—and suggested that recruitment opportunities in the police and other public services be explored for eligible candidates from the six districts where these tribal communities predominantly reside.

Police Band in Every District

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed officials to ensure that every district has its own police band by the next Republic Day. He noted that the required posts have already been filled in most districts and instructed that the remaining districts complete the process at the earliest.

The meeting also reviewed the functioning of the Police Housing Board, the requirement for additional police vehicles, the Police Recruitment Board, and the establishment of a dedicated crime scene response mechanism on the lines of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
