IRGC Claims Missile and Drone Strikes on US Facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait Amid Escalating Tensions

Tehran, July 2026 : Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Monday claimed to have carried out a series of missile and drone strikes targeting US military assets and facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait, describing the attacks as retaliation for recent American airstrikes on Iranian territory.

In a statement issued through its official news outlet, Sepah News, the IRGC said its naval forces conducted three coordinated rounds of attacks against what it described as key US military infrastructure in the Gulf region.

According to the IRGC, the first wave targeted Al-Sakhir Air Base in Bahrain, where it claimed to have destroyed drone maintenance and repair hangars allegedly used by US forces. The statement asserted that the facilities were severely damaged during the operation.

The second round of attacks reportedly focused on Salman Port in Bahrain. The IRGC claimed it struck silos housing vessels belonging to the US Navy’s Task Force 59, alleging that the naval assets and supporting infrastructure were destroyed or sustained extensive damage.

In the third phase of the operation, the IRGC said it launched attacks against Camp Arifjan in Kuwait, claiming that facilities used for the deployment, support and equipping of US special naval commandos were set ablaze and destroyed.

The claims by Iran could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate confirmation from US authorities regarding the extent of the alleged damage.

Bahrain strongly condemned the attacks, with the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs accusing Iran of repeatedly targeting vital civilian infrastructure. The ministry said the strikes posed a direct threat to civilian lives and regional stability, while reiterating Bahrain’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and critical infrastructure.

Bahrain’s Civil Aviation Affairs also confirmed that Iranian drones had targeted civil air navigation systems within the Bahrain Flight Information Region. However, officials stated that air traffic management systems remained fully operational and that flight navigation services were not disrupted.

Earlier in the day, the IRGC had separately announced that it had targeted US military aircraft in Jordan’s port city of Aqaba as well as additional American assets in Kuwait, signalling an expansion of Iran’s retaliatory military operations across the region.

Meanwhile, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its forces had completed the ninth consecutive night of military strikes against targets in Iran. In a social media update issued early Monday, CENTCOM said the operations were part of an ongoing campaign against Iranian military capabilities.

The United States has stated that its strikes have primarily targeted military infrastructure in Iran’s southern provinces, with the objective of degrading Tehran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and maritime security in the Gulf and surrounding waterways.

Iran has responded by launching repeated missile and drone attacks against US military bases and facilities located across several countries in the Middle East, raising concerns over a wider regional conflict.

As tensions continued to escalate, Iran’s semi-official Mehr News Agency reported that explosions were heard on Monday evening in the southern provinces of Hormozgan and Fars. While the cause of the blasts was not immediately confirmed, the reports underscored the rapidly deteriorating security situation as both sides continued to exchange military strikes across the region.
