CJP Founder Alleges Police Excesses During Student Protest, Vows to Continue Agitation Until Education Minister Resigns

New Delhi, July 2026 : Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke on Monday accused the Delhi Police of using excessive force against students during a protest march from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament, alleging that several demonstrators sustained serious injuries after security personnel resorted to a lathi-charge.

Addressing the media after the protest, Dipke said the march was called off midway to prevent further harm to students, but asserted that the party’s agitation and activist Sonam Wangchuk’s ongoing hunger strike would continue until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns over alleged irregularities in the examination system.

According to Dipke, the demonstration was peaceful and aimed at highlighting repeated examination controversies, including the NEET-UG paper leak issue. He alleged that despite the peaceful nature of the protest, police used force to disperse the crowd after protesters attempted to move towards Parliament.

“Our students were determined to march to Parliament despite the risks. However, we decided to prioritise their safety and avoid any major tragedy by calling off the march midway,” Dipke said.

He further alleged that several students suffered injuries during the police action, including head wounds, fractures and other serious injuries. Dipke also claimed that female students were mishandled near the barricades during the clashes.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police maintained that the situation turned violent after protesters attempted to breach security barricades. According to the police, more than 100 personnel, including senior officers, sustained injuries while trying to maintain law and order during the demonstration.

Dipke questioned the Centre’s response to the ongoing protests and referred to a recent meeting with Union Minister J.P. Nadda. He also criticised the registration of an FIR against activist Saurabh Das, arguing that if legal action was being taken against protesters, accountability should also be fixed for those responsible for alleged examination irregularities.

“The Education Minister should also be held accountable for the NEET-UG controversies, which have deeply affected students across the country and have reportedly been linked to multiple student suicides,” he said.

The CJP leader welcomed the Opposition parties for raising the NEET-UG issue in Parliament on the opening day of the Monsoon Session, describing it as a fulfilment of their commitment to protesting students.

“I thank the Opposition for standing with the students and raising the issue inside Parliament. They have honoured the promise they made. However, our movement will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan steps down,” Dipke asserted.

Thousands of students, activists and CJP supporters had gathered at Jantar Mantar demanding comprehensive reforms in the country’s examination system, stricter measures to prevent paper leaks and greater accountability from the government.

While the planned march to Parliament was eventually cancelled in the interest of student safety, Dipke reiterated that the larger campaign would continue through peaceful protests and public mobilisation. He said the movement would remain focused on securing reforms in the examination process and pressing for political accountability until their demands are addressed.
