Raipur, Nov 2025 : Cabinet Minister Tankaram Verma and MP Brijmohan Agrawal boosted the morale of players

The block-level MP Sports Festival concluded today in a dignified atmosphere at the Balodabazar Sports Stadium. Cabinet Minister Shri Tankaram Verma and Raipur MP Shri Brijmohan Agrawal were present as chief guests at the event. Both guests honoured the winning players by presenting them medals and administered a pledge for de-addiction to all participants.

In his address, Minister Shri Verma said that sports teach us to face every rise and fall in life. Through the MP Sports Festival, hidden talents in rural regions are getting a strong platform. He mentioned that for the first time, such a large number of players have gathered together in any parliamentary constituency, which is encouraging for the sports world.

MP Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, encouraging the players, said that sportsmanship is far more important than winning or losing. He said that sports lead to the all-round development of personality and also enhance team spirit, discipline and self-confidence. Highlighting the importance of the MP Sports Festival launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to strengthen the Fit India Mission, he said that it has helped promote a culture of sports among the youth. MP Agrawal also mentioned that the Chhattisgarh government is appointing outstanding sportspersons to various government services, and many players who have brought glory to the state at the national and international levels are now serving in government positions.

It is noteworthy that under the MP Sports Festival 2025, competitions for male and female players in 13 disciplines were organised in the Raipur Lok Sabha constituency from 21 September. Participants from the 9–19 age group and those above 19 years showcased their strength in games such as kho-kho, wrestling, volleyball, weightlifting, swimming, bodybuilding, chess, phugdi, kabaddi, gedi race, tug of war, skipping, and other sports. The winning players will now participate in district and state-level competitions.

The event was attended by District Panchayat President Akanksha Jaiswal, Municipal Council President Ashok Jain, Superintendent of Police Bhavana Gupta, former MLA Dr. Sanam Jangde, Janpad President Sulochana Yadav, District Panchayat CEO Ms. Divya Agrawal, along with a large number of public representatives, players and citizens.
