Jaipur Metro Expansion to Ease Traffic, Improve Public Transport: CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma has said that the state government is working to develop a smooth and modern transportation system across Rajasthan. In this direction, the expansion of the Jaipur Metro will provide better transport facilities to city residents, considering the increasing population pressure in Jaipur. He said that Jaipur Metro Phase-2 will also prove effective in reducing the city’s traffic congestion.

Shri Sharma was addressing a review meeting on Jaipur Metro expansion at the Chief Minister’s Office on Monday. He said the expansion of Jaipur Metro will play a crucial role in ensuring smoother transportation in the city. He directed officials to make a proper assessment of expenses and costs under Metro Phase-2 so that financial resources can be utilised efficiently and a robust transit system can be provided to the public.

Metro routes planned as per future needs
The Chief Minister said that new metro stations should be constructed at locations with high traffic density so that the public can get relief from heavy traffic. Officials informed the Chief Minister that the State Government has approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Jaipur Metro Phase-2 and sent it to the Central Government. Once the approval is granted, construction of the project will begin.

In the meeting, it was informed that Jaipur Metro Phase-2 will be approximately 42.80 kilometres long, with 36 proposed stations, including 34 elevated and 2 underground stations. Phase-2 will connect major locations such as Sitapura Industrial Area, VKI, Jaipur Airport, Jaipur Railway Station, and Gandhi Nagar Railway Station. Through this network, seamless metro connectivity will be provided to key areas including SMS Stadium, SMS Hospital, Collectorate, Vidyadhar Nagar, Ambabadi, major residential and commercial areas along Tonk Road, and Sikar Road.

The meeting also discussed proposed routes for Metro Phase-3 A, B, and C. Officials gave a detailed presentation on the expansion of the metro project. Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas and senior officials from concerned departments were present.
