Government schemes have reached 100% of scheduled and Naxal-affected areas: Governor Shri Ramen Deka

Governor Shri Ramen Deka held a meeting with Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Shri Ashok Juneja, Director General Shri Arun Dev Gautam and other senior officers at Raj Bhavan today and took information on important topics including administration, law and order in the state, status of implementation of central and state government schemes in Naxal-affected and tribal areas, preparation for disaster management and gave necessary guidelines.

While discussing law and order in the state, Governor Shri Deka enquired about the geographical location of the areas affected by Left Wing Extremism. He said that steps should be taken to bring the Naxalites who are surrendering into the mainstream of the society and they should be provided shelter on priority. The people of these areas should be given the benefits of the government schemes of the Central and State Government. Extensive communication system should be made in the Naxal-affected areas so that the residents here can know about the development and activities of other areas.

Director General of Police Shri Juneja apprised the Governor of the geographical situation of Chhattisgarh through a presentation and gave a brief description of the major incidents that took place in the state in the last five years. The Governor enquired about the measures taken to stop human trafficking, preparations made by the police to implement the new Justice Act. He said that the police should be physically fit and should behave friendly with the public. The posts in the police department should not remain vacant for a long time and recruitment to the vacant posts should be done quickly.

Governor Shri Deka sought information on the expenditure of CSR and District Mineral Fund (DMF Fund) funds for social and cultural development in scheduled areas. He directed to pay special attention to the health security of newborns in these areas and to make progress in accordance with the target set in the Prime Minister’s TB Free India Campaign. He directed to ensure that 100% of the funds received from the Central Government reach the lower level.

Governor Mr Deka enquired about the status of toilets in the state, especially in local bodies. Chief Secretary Mr Amitabh Jain informed that the second phase of Swachhata Abhiyan is going on in the state.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Jail Mr. Manoj Kumar Pingua, Secretary to Governor Mr. Yashwant Kumar, Special Secretary, Revenue Department Mr. Ramesh Sharma, Additional Director Generals of Police Mr. Vivekananda, (Intelligence) Mr. Amit Kumar, Deputy Secretary Mrs. Hina Animesh Netam and other senior officers of Home Department were present in the meeting.
