One day Workshop on Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP), Act 2023 for IT Ecosystem

Bhubaneswar, Nov 2025 : A one-day Training Programme on “Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP), Act 2023 for IT Ecosystem” was organised today at Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha under the initiative on Data Protection and Data Governance. The focus was to bring together officials and stakeholders to deepen their understanding of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 and strengthen data governance practices across government and allied organisations. The workshop was organised by National E-Governance Division (NeGD) in collaboration with National Institute for Smart Government (NISG) and supported by Electronics and IT Department, Government of Odisha and Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC).

The workshop was inaugurated by Shri J.L Gupta, Director, NeGD, in the presence of Dr. Pradeep Kumar Raut, Special Secretary, E&IT Department, Government of Odisha and Shri G. Chamu, SGM, NISG. In his inaugural address, Shri J. L. Gupta emphasized the vision of the Digital India Mission and underscored the citizen-centric approach of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act and Rules, which prioritize safeguarding personal data privacy and promoting responsible data governance. In his introductory address, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Raut, highlighted “in this decade of digital governance, it is imperative for every official to strengthen digital data protection practices and ensure that all applications are fully compliant with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) framework”.

Five technical sessions on overarching view of DPDP Act 2023, industry perspective on data inventory and mapping, rights management, consent management were conducted in this workshop by Ms. Sanyogeeta R, from Privacient and Mr. Samarth Sahoo from Aditya Birla Group. This workshop aimed to empower participants to navigate the requirements of Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. The curriculum has been designed to strengthen understanding and development of a robust data protection compliance framework within government organizations and other institutions, by equipping the IT ecosystem responsible for implementing and operating IT systems with the necessary knowledge and practical skills.
