Indian National Congress Exposes the Hegemony of the BJP Led NDA Government.
Immediately after the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) filed a new FIR in the National Herald money laundering case, which included six names, in addition to Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, following the Enforcement Directorate headquarters filed a complaint with the EOW, the Senior Congress leaders have lambasted the move as a hegemony of the BJP led NDA Government.
Sachin Pilot today have slammed the BJP government for the ploy to divert attention from the core issues, such as ‘vote theft’ and Special Intensive Revision which opposition has planned to raise in the Winter Session of Parliament set to begin tomorrow, 01st December.
In a post on X, Pilot said, “As the winter session of Parliament is set to begin, the BJP, using its manipulative tactics, has brought up baseless accusations in the National Herald Case. This appears to be an attempt to divert attention from core issues such as SIR process, vote chori and related issues. After Bihar, 12 states are undergoing the SIR process with significant challenges and increasing pressure on BLOs. We need answers to these core issues, not diversionary tactics“.
Earlier today, Senior Advocate and Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi sharply criticised what he described as “strategic and selective leaks” in the National Herald case, soon after learning that the Rouse Avenue Court had stayed a magistrate’s order directing service of a “belated FIR” on the accused. Singhvi, in a post on X, said it was ironic that the accused still did not have a copy of the FIR, while “the whole world” appeared to know its contents through selective disclosures by the EOW and the ED.
Meanwhile, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi again adjourned the decision on whether to take cognizance of the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) chargesheet in the National Herald case. The chargesheet names several senior Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Sam Pitroda, Suman Dubey, and others, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ED has
alleged financial irregularities involving Associated Journals Ltd (AJL), the original publisher of the National Herald. The court is now set to pronounce its order on December 16.
Assam Congress President and MP Gaurav Gogoi on Sunday demanded discussions on several critical issues, including the Delhi blast incident near the Red Fort, asserting that the session is likely to be the shortest in recent years.
Speaking to reporters, Gogoi expressed concern over the limited time allocated for discussions and indicated that the government appeared reluctant to prioritise key matters. “The winter session is only 19 days long, of which discussions can take place only for 15 days. This will likely be the shortest winter session ever. Therefore, it seems the government itself wants to derail Parliament. We raised the security issue, which should be discussed. The blast in Delhi is, in some ways, a testimony to the failures of our legal and home affairs departments“, he said.
Gogoi further highlighted the need to discuss the security of democracy. “The second is the security of democracy. The way in which in different states the Election Commission, before the polls, during the polls and after the polls, is being politically biased then will the election process run according to the Constitution? There should be a discussion on the security of voter lists and election security“, he said.
He said that the third demand was the security of our health, given the way air pollution is increasing in every corner of the country.
The fourth issue is that of economic security. The farmers and labourers are not getting the right amount. The fifth issue is of natural security. The way floods, landslides, and hurricanes are occurring, there is no preparation. Congress have raised the issue of foreign policy, where it has been seen that India is formulating its foreign policy according to other countries, Gogoi said.
He also pointed out the vulnerability of data security in the age of artificial intelligence. “In the age of AI, the way we should be prepared we have not discussed it in the Parliament. It seems that the current government is burying the entire parliamentary decorum, derailing it, and digging the grave of this tradition of Indian democracy. And that’s why all opposition parties are united on this issue”.
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari today has demanded that a discussion over Special Intensive revision, Delhi terror attack, including other important issues concerning the people of the country, must be discussed in detail in the Parliament Winter Session, which is set to begin tomorrow. Tiwari also demanded that a discussion be held on the poor air quality of the national capital.
“The SIR was conducted across the entire state in a very short span of time, which is impossible. Blasts have occurred in the capital. Prime Minister Modi’s foreign policies are completely lost. In addition, air pollution in Delhi and other states must be discussed in detail. We have a strategic meeting today at 6 pm, and the Business Advisory Committee meeting is happening at 4 pm. Let us see what is on the BJP’s agenda“, Tiwari told.
