Karnataka’s ‘Breakfast Diplomacy’ Gains Momentum as Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar Meet Again

Bengaluru, Dec 2025 :Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar are set for their second breakfast meeting within a week, with Shivakumar inviting the Chief Minister to his residence on December 2. The renewed round of “breakfast diplomacy,” fully endorsed by the Congress high command, is aimed at signaling unity amid ongoing political speculation.

Adding a personal touch to the meeting, Shivakumar announced that ‘naati koli’ (country chicken)—a dish widely known to be one of Siddaramaiah’s favourites—will be specially prepared for the occasion.

“I have invited the Hon’ble Chief Minister for breakfast tomorrow to discuss and strengthen our collective efforts to deliver on our promises to the people of Karnataka,” the Deputy Chief Minister posted on X on Monday. He added that both leaders remain committed to working together as a team, even as they enjoy the traditional delicacy during Tuesday’s meeting.

Earlier in the day, Siddaramaiah had stated that he had not yet received a formal invitation from Shivakumar but expressed his willingness to attend as soon as he was called.
“If I am invited for breakfast by Shivakumar, I am ready to go. He had mentioned during the previous breakfast meeting on November 30 that he would invite me again. He told me to come to his residence on Tuesday, but so far I have not received any call. If he invites us, I will go,” Siddaramaiah said.

He added confidently, “He (Shivakumar) may invite soon. I assume he will definitely invite me.”

Shivakumar, the state Congress president and a key aspirant for the Chief Minister’s post, had earlier emphasised that he and Siddaramaiah were united and committed to following the directives of the party leadership. After last Saturday’s meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence, he had remarked, “Today, I am happy. The Chief Minister and I had a breakfast meeting. The CM will also visit my residence for dinner in the next two days.”

When questioned on Monday morning about hosting the Chief Minister, Shivakumar maintained that the matter was strictly between the two leaders.
“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and I are working together like brothers. We attended the breakfast meeting only because of media pressure. You (the media) repeatedly claimed there are camps and factions within the party,” he said, brushing aside speculation.

As the two leaders prepare to share another meal, the Congress hopes the gesture will reinforce internal unity and strengthen the government’s efforts toward delivering its commitments to the people of Karnataka.
