Case of Organised Illegal Paddy Sale Exposed in MCB

Middleman Arrested While Selling Illegal Paddy at Nagpur Procurement Centre
Strict Action Underway After Panchanama
Attempt to Cause Financial Loss of ₹3 Lakh to the Government Foiled

Raipur, Dec 2025 : A middleman was arrested for illegally selling paddy at the Nagpur procurement centre under the Manendragarh–Chirmiri–Bharatpur district. This has exposed a major case of an organised attempt to illegally sell paddy. Due to the vigilance and timely action of the revenue team, the government was saved from a potential financial loss of nearly ₹3 lakh.

According to information received from the district administration, on December 1, 2025, at around 2 p.m., physical verification of tokens cut for the next day was being carried out along with the Patwari of Halka Nagpur. During this process, important facts emerged during questioning of Sohan, a resident of village Lai.

Sohan revealed that only paddy seeds had been scattered in his field; no sowing, transplantation, or harvesting had taken place. Despite this, Nagpur resident Sandeep Jaiswal had visited him and told him to be present at the committee when called. In return, Sandeep tempted him with money and even took his bank passbook and ATM card. This clearly indicated preparations for a major illegal paddy sale.

Illegal Paddy Racket Caught Red-Handed

Considering the seriousness of the information, on December 2, Sohan was counselled and advised to follow Sandeep’s instructions exactly so that the entire racket could be caught red-handed.

As planned, around 10 a.m. today, Sandeep delivered the first trip of 124 bags (49.80 quintals) of paddy to the committee. Later, at around 3 p.m., the second trip of about 120 bags (47.20 quintals) was brought on a Sonalika tractor to be offloaded at the centre. This paddy had been loaded from Sandeep Jaiswal’s house in Nagpur Basti.

When the team reached the spot and verified the facts, they found that a total of 96.80 quintals of paddy was being illegally sold under Sohan’s account, even though no paddy had been produced from his field.

Government Saved from Major Loss

Immediate action was taken at the site. The first trip of 124 bags was seized and handed over to the committee in-charge, while the second trip of around 120 bags, along with the Sonalika tractor, was handed over to the police station.

The investigation revealed that Sandeep Jaiswal, son of Radheshyam Jaiswal, had attempted to cause a financial loss of ₹3,00,080 to the government by illegally entering paddy under farmer Sohan’s account. A detailed panchanama of the entire incident has been prepared and forwarded to the concerned authorities for further legal action.

This action not only demonstrates the alertness of the administration but also sends a clear message that any form of manipulation in the paddy procurement system will not be tolerated, and strict action will be ensured against the offenders.
