Minister Joraram Kumawat Reviews Livestock, Dairy, and Cow Rearing Progress
Jaipur, Dec 2025: Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy, and Cow Rearing, Joraram Kumawat, held a key review meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday to assess departmental schemes, livestock protection, dairy development, strengthening of gaushalas, and upcoming budget proposals.
Minister Kumawat directed officials to implement cow protection programs effectively and ensure timely benefits of schemes reach citizens in every district. He emphasized transparency and speed in departmental processes to strengthen the cow-rearing sector.
The meeting reviewed gaushala financial and physical progress, availability of fodder and water, enclosures, pending grants, dairy development activities, and marketing of milk products. Officials were instructed to strictly follow a grant distribution calendar, keep the gaushala development portal open, complete training for gaushala managers, and accelerate ongoing construction projects including nandishalas, gaushala development, and animal shelters. The minister also instructed officials to propose a PPP-mode cow sanctuary in Napasar.
The meeting addressed irregularities in the Jaisalmer dairy, with ACB officials present. Kumawat instructed immediate resolution, and the ACB assured timely completion of investigations. He also emphasized filling vacant posts in the dairy department, maintaining product quality, improving marketing, and accelerating investigation into financial irregularities. The minister reviewed progress on opening dairy outlets in government offices, hospitals, and Roadways, including expansion in Delhi.
Department Secretary Dr. Samit Sharma recommended setting targets for artificial insemination of breedable cows using sex-sorted semen to increase high-yielding dairy cows and make gaushalas self-reliant. Senior officials including Joint Secretary Dinesh Kumar Jangid, RCDF GM Shruti Bhardwaj, and Cow Rearing Department Director Pankaj Ojha attended the meeting.
