Art & Culture Department and MCO General Headquarters, Lunglei Organise Cultural Meet at Mualthuam North

Lunglei, December 2025: Today, the Art & Culture (A&C) Department, Lunglei, in collaboration with the Mizo Cultural Organisation (MCO) General Headquarters, Lunglei, and the Mualthuam North Branch YMA, organised a Cultural Meet at the Mualthuam North GSA Playground. The Chairman of the Lunglei Municipal Council (LMC), Shri Lalzuithanga, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Shri Lalzuithanga appreciated the commendable work being done by the Art & Culture Department in preserving and promoting Mizo culture, as well as the collective effort of the MCO and YMA in organising the Cultural Meet. He said that the strongest identity that makes the Mizos truly Mizo is the firm preservation of Mizo culture within themselves. He stated that if people fail to safeguard their traditional customs, food habits, marriage systems, and ways of celebrating or observing important occasions, their community could lose its identity over time. As song and dance are the most powerful expressions of Mizo culture, he said it is their responsibility to promote them widely. He also urged the youth to have a forward-looking vision for Mizoram’s future, to stay away from drugs and related vices, to remain disciplined, and to work hard to build a stable livelihood.

The programme was chaired by MCO General Headquarters Lunglei President Shri R. Lalsangvunga, while the invocation prayer was offered by Rev. Rohmingthanga, Pastor of Mizoram UPC Mualthuam North Area. Senior Research Officer of the A&C Department, Lunglei, Shri Lalmuanpuia, presented the report and vote of thanks. A composition by the late former leader of MCO General Headquarters, Lunglei, Shri K. Darchhawna, was beautifully rendered by Pukpui singer Ms. Lalremliani and was highly appreciated by the audience.
