Mizo Diaspora Cell Meeting

Aizawl, December 2025: The Mizo Diaspora Cell (MDC), under the Chief Minister’s Office, held its meeting on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Chief Minister’s Conference Hall. The meeting was chaired by Pu Vanlaldina Fanai, ICAS, Commissioner and Secretary to the Chief Minister and Chairman of MDC. The key resolutions discussed are as follows:

  1. Review of Cases Referred to MDC:
The Cell reviewed cases that had been forwarded to it from various countries. Most of the reported cases were from Dubai, Maldives, Nepal, China, and Malaysia. A majority of these involved individuals who had travelled illegally through Myanmar using forged passports and had taken up unauthorised employment abroad. In light of this, the Mizo Diaspora Cell once again urged all citizens of Mizoram who intend to travel abroad for employment or business purposes to strictly follow Indian laws as well as the laws of the destination countries.
  2. Use of Social Media for Public Awareness:
To ensure that people in distress can easily reach out for assistance and that their grievances can be addressed swiftly, the MDC decided to make extensive use of social media platforms. These platforms will also be used to share:
    • Best practices
    • Do’s and Don’ts for those planning to work abroad
    • Other useful and informative updates relevant to overseas employment and welfare issues
  3. Mizo Diaspora Hub Registration Update:
As of now, 40 Mizo Welfare Associations from various locations have been registered on the Mizo Diaspora Hub, of which two associations are based outside India. It was also decided to hold online meetings with these associations and to jointly discuss strategies to encourage maximum registration on the Diaspora Hub.
