Vijay to Address TVK Rally in Puducherry Amid Strict Security and Crowd Controls
Chennai, Dec 2025 : The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has scheduled a public rally in Puducherry on Tuesday at the Uppalam Helipad Ground, with party leader Vijay set to address supporters. The event comes amid tight police-imposed regulations, elaborate security arrangements, and strict adherence to crowd-control measures.
The rally is part of Vijay’s ongoing district-wise campaign across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Following last month’s Karur incident, the actor-turned-politician held a public meeting at a private college in Kancheepuram, and the TVK formally announced his participation in the Puducherry rally shortly thereafter. The announcement generated significant excitement among party volunteers and supporters, eager to witness the leader in person.
Police permission allows the rally to be conducted between 10 a.m. and noon. Attendance has been capped at 5,000 participants, with entry strictly restricted to those holding QR code-enabled passes. As part of enhanced crowd-control measures, passes will not be issued to attendees from Tamil Nadu.
To ensure basic amenities for the participants, organisers, in collaboration with authorities, have arranged 20 plastic water tanks of 1,000-litre capacity each at various points across the venue. Temporary toilet facilities have also been set up at multiple locations for the convenience of attendees.
According to the schedule, Vijay will leave his residence in Panaiyur on Tuesday morning and is expected to reach the rally venue via East Coast Road by 10:30 a.m. He will address the gathering from his campaign vehicle. Entry to the ground will be strictly limited to individuals carrying valid passes.
TVK General Secretary Bussy Anand, speaking on behalf of Vijay, announced strict guidelines for supporters and party volunteers. Pregnant women, mothers with infants, senior citizens, persons with physical challenges, schoolchildren, and persons with disabilities have been advised not to attend. Volunteers have been instructed not to pursue Vijay’s vehicle during his arrival or departure and to follow High Court directions regarding the prohibition of cut-outs, banners, decorative arches, or flag-wired structures on national highways and public roads without permission.
Additional safety instructions include warnings against climbing government or private buildings, trees, vehicles, and flagpoles near the venue, as well as standing close to electric poles, transformers, and streetlight structures.
Police have imposed 11 safety and traffic-related restrictions in the Uppalam area to ensure the smooth movement of ambulances, public transport, pedestrians, and motorists, while prioritising the safety of women, children, the elderly, and patients.
As a precautionary measure, government-aided Mathias Higher Secondary School and Bethany Seminary Primary School, located near the Uppalam Helipad Ground, have been declared closed on Tuesday to avoid any disruption during the rally.
The meticulous planning and stringent guidelines reflect the authorities’ and party’s focus on ensuring both the safety of attendees and the orderly conduct of the high-profile event.
