Under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s Leadership, Livestock Department Achieves Effective Expansion : Livestock Minister Records Historic Appointments in Last Two Years
Jaipur, December 2025 : Livestock, Dairy, Cattle Development, and Devasthan Minister Joraram Kumawat stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the Livestock Department has significantly expanded and simplified access to animal health services over the past two years. New veterinary institutions have been established across various districts, while existing ones have been modernized, improving the quality of animal treatment, vaccination, and surgical procedures.
Record Recruitment Across Various Posts
Minister Kumawat highlighted that the department has made large-scale recruitments across various positions, reaching a record number over the past two years. He explained that the Chief Minister is committed to ensuring that a shortage of manpower does not affect departmental work or inconvenience livestock owners. Accordingly, the recruitment process pending since 2019 was completed without delay, resulting in the regular appointment of 727 veterinarians. Additionally, 500 livestock assistants and 125 veterinarians were recruited on a temporary basis in eight districts, and the recruitment process for 1,100 veterinarian positions has also begun.
Kumawat added that efforts were also made to address shortages of technical personnel. In this regard, 5,778 animal attendants have already been appointed in the state, and the remaining 774 appointments will be completed this month. For 2,783 Livestock Inspector positions, document verification has been completed following the release of examination results, and appointment orders will be issued shortly.
Strengthening Veterinary Institutions
The Livestock Minister stated that the state government aims to ensure that every Gram Panchayat in all districts has access to a departmental veterinary institution, providing local livestock owners with nearby veterinary services. As part of this initiative, 50 first-class veterinary hospitals have been upgraded to multi-purpose veterinary hospitals, 101 veterinary hospitals have been upgraded to first-class hospitals, and 151 veterinary sub-centers have been elevated to veterinary hospitals. Additionally, two new veterinary hospitals and 700 new veterinary sub-centers have been approved, creating a total of 2,423 new posts.
Furthermore, infrastructure development for 100 veterinary hospitals and 475 veterinary sub-centers is underway, with ₹200 crore allocated for building construction, furniture, and equipment.
Minister Kumawat emphasized that the state government’s two-year tenure has been highly significant for rural livelihoods, livestock development, and farmer welfare. During this period, the Livestock Department has not only effectively expanded its programs but also made notable progress in areas such as technical innovations, service transparency, and increasing livestock-based income.
