Fadnavis: Include Villagers’ Suggestions in Tulapur–Vadhu Budruk Development Plan
Tulapur and Vadhu Budruk Development Plan Should Incorporate Villagers’ Suggestions – Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
Tulapur and Mouje Vadhu Budruk Development Plan Apex Committee Meeting
Approval has been granted for the construction of a new road from the martyrdom site to the memorial of Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, along with a bridge on the Bhima River.
Nagpur, Dec 2025 : A development plan worth ₹532.51 crore—covering the construction of a new road between the martyrdom site at Tulapur (Haveli taluka) and the memorial site at Mouje Vadhu Budruk (Shirur taluka), as well as a bridge over the Bhima River—was approved during the meeting of the Development Plan Apex Committee chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said that Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is revered across Maharashtra. While implementing the development plans at Tulapur and Vadhu Budruk—his martyrdom and memorial sites—villagers’ suggestions must be considered.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and MLA Dnyaneshwar Katke.
CM Fadnavis said that a large number of citizens visit Tulapur and Vadhu Budruk to pay homage to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Therefore, the road between the two sites should be connected via a bridge over the Bhima River. Currently, the distance is 14 km, requiring 30–40 minutes of travel. With the proposed bridge, the distance will reduce to 6.5 km, saving time for visitors.
The bridge across the Bhima River should include a viewing gallery. Its design should reflect the historical era of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The bridge must be built to high standards, and the riverfront development should also evoke historical memories. Quality lighting and beautification should be ensured along the riverfront and on the bridge. Guides at the site must receive training and be well-informed about the historical background so that every visitor can experience the legacy of Sambhaji Maharaj. These directions were given by CM Fadnavis.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said the bridge’s width must be adequate for traffic. The bridge and viewing gallery should be designed so every visitor would want to spend time there. Land acquisition for the proposed Tulapur–Vadhu Budruk road should begin. The development should be such that devotees of Sambhaji Maharaj feel inspired to revisit and learn more about his history.
Chief Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) O.P. Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (PWD) Manisha Mhaiskar, and Principal Secretary (Planning) Saurabh Vijay were present. Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi made a presentation during the meeting. Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar joined via video conferencing.
