Mizoram Home Minister Holds Meeting on Firecracker Regulation and Holiday Prohibitory Orders
Aizawl, December 2025: Today, Home Minister K. Sapdanga convened a meeting at Secretariat Conference Hall-II, MINECO, to discuss the Mizoram Firecrackers (Regulation & Control) Bill, 2025 and the Prohibitory Orders for Christmas and New Year celebrations, along with related public safety measures.
During the meeting, the Firecrackers Bill, 2025 was reviewed, with discussions focusing on its proposed implementation this year. The Bill had been presented as a regular bill in the last budget session, and the meeting sought to finalize details for its enforcement.
The discussion also included plans to designate this year as the “Year of Awareness Campaign on the Harmful Effects of Firecrackers”. Efforts were made to implement a phased awareness campaign in the coming years. The meeting emphasized coordination with CYMA (Chhawngthu Youth Organization), YMA members, local church leaders, Central Paramilitary forces, central police organizations, Mizoram Merchant Association (MIMA), online marketing agencies, and GAD officials to ensure proper enforcement of prohibitory orders.
The Home Minister stressed that measures would be taken to prevent the use of firecrackers during Christmas, New Year, and other festive occasions, ensuring safety and public order. Local councils, CYMA, magistrates, and police will actively monitor compliance and manage any violations effectively.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena, IAS; DGP Sharad Agarwal, IPS; and Home Secretary Vanlalmawia Renthlei, along with other senior officials.
