Maharashtra to Become AI & GCC Hub with Microsoft Partnership – CM Devendra Fadnavis
Mumbai, Dec 2025 – A major step has been taken toward making Maharashtra a Global Capability Center (GCC) hub, as Brookfield will establish Asia’s largest GCC in Mumbai on approximately 2 million square feet. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that this project will generate a total of 45,000 jobs—15,000 direct and 30,000 indirect.
The meeting was held at the Jio Convention Center, attended by CM Devendra Fadnavis, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, ANSR CEO Vikram Ahuja, and Brookfield’s Ankur Gupta. Discussions focused on significant investment and technical partnership opportunities for the state.
CM Fadnavis said that Maharashtra’s talent pool, infrastructure, and business-friendly environment make it a preferred destination for global capability centers. The new GCC policy is expected to create large-scale skilled employment and drive economic growth. Leading global logistics company FedEx is also interested in investing in its GCC and other operations near the Mumbai–Navi Mumbai airport.
The CM added that he requested Microsoft to prioritize Maharashtra for its investments. Currently, Microsoft’s largest investment in India is already in Maharashtra. In the coming period, Microsoft will make significant investments and take initiatives to make Maharashtra a hub for artificial intelligence.
Maharashtra’s AI model for crime control sets a nationwide benchmark
CM Fadnavis participated in the Microsoft AI Tour held at the event, where Satya Nadella presented a demonstration of the Crime AIOS platform developed with the Maharashtra government. Fadnavis stated that Maharashtra’s model for crime control using artificial intelligence provides a guiding example for the entire country.
The meeting with Nadella also discussed developing AI Co-Pilots for health, education, agriculture, and government service delivery. CM Fadnavis confirmed that Microsoft has assured Maharashtra of priority in its $17 billion investment in India.
With the Marble platform developed by Maharashtra, cyber and financial crimes that previously took 3–4 months can now be investigated within 24 hours, saving public money and enabling faster identification of offenders.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary of the CM’s Office Ashwini Bhide, Secretary of the Industries Department Dr. Anbalgan, and other dignitaries.
