LESDE Minister Attends Closing Ceremony of SLSC 2025

Aizawl, December 2025: The Minister for Labour, Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (LESDE), Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, today attended the closing ceremony of the State-level Skill Competition (SLSC) 2025 as the chief guest. The event was held at the LESDE Auditorium, MINECO, following the successful conduct of the competition from 8 to 12 November 2025. On the occasion, prizes were distributed to the outstanding winners of the competition.

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest, LESDE Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, said it was gratifying to see the State-level Skill Competition 2025 conclude successfully, providing a meaningful and productive platform for youths to showcase their skills. He noted that the participation of around 1,048 competitors reflected the growing interest and commitment of young people towards acquiring market-relevant employable skills. Emphasising the importance of adapting skills to the increasingly digitised modern world, he said those who are able to integrate digital competencies with their trades would progress faster in the future.

Highlighting that youth development directly contributes to the progress of the state and the nation, the Minister assured that the government would continue to make every possible effort to promote youth empowerment. He also informed that the Ministry of External Affairs has recognised the Mizoram Council for Vocational Training (MCVT) under the LESDE Department as a facilitating body for enabling youths to seek employment opportunities abroad. He urged participants to continuously upgrade and refine their skills to remain competitive.

The participants in the State-level Skill Competition were those who had been selected as top performers from the District-level Skill Competitions held from 18 to 20 November 2025. During today’s programme, prizes were awarded to the best performers in five skill categories—bakery, beauty therapy, cabinet-making, carpentry and car painting. The winners at the state level will go on to represent Mizoram at the regional-level competition to be held in Guwahati, with long-term plans to scale the competition to national and international levels.

The programme was chaired by Dr. Lalhriatzuali Ralte, Secretary, LESDE Department, who welcomed the gathering. Pu John Tanpuia, Director, LESDE, presented a detailed report on the competition. This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony and felicitation of winners from the preliminary rounds. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and closing remarks by Pu Vanlalawmpuia, Joint Labour Commissioner, LESDE.
