KTR–Akhilesh Meet Highlights Personal Bond and Political Resilience

Hyderabad, Dec 2025 : Telangana’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) met Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav at his residence in Hyderabad on Friday, in a meeting described by both leaders as personal rather than political. Despite the clarification, the interaction drew attention for the strong mutual respect it reflected and for the broader message it sent about political resilience, renewal, and the importance of staying connected with the public.

Speaking after the meeting, KTR said the BRS draws inspiration from the Samajwadi Party’s political revival under Akhilesh Yadav. Referring to the SP’s recent electoral performance, KTR noted how the party rebounded strongly to send 37 Members of Parliament to the Lok Sabha. “The way you and your party marched to Delhi with 37 MPs inspires us,” KTR said, adding that the BRS too remains confident of returning to power. His remarks came at a time when the BRS is navigating a challenging political phase in Telangana following its defeat in the Assembly elections.

Akhilesh Yadav, who shares long-standing cordial relations with KTR and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), reiterated that the meeting was driven by personal reasons. He said he has known KTR for many years and considers the relationship close and warm. “This wasn’t a political meeting. I’ve known him forever and came to meet him. His father isn’t well, and I wanted to come earlier but could not due to political circumstances,” Yadav told reporters.

Describing the meeting in emotional terms, the SP chief said that meeting KTR felt like meeting a loved one. He recalled that whenever he has visited Hyderabad in the past, he has always been welcomed warmly by KTR and BRS leaders. The interaction, he said, reflected the personal bonds that often exist beyond party lines in Indian politics.

Yadav also reflected on the cyclical nature of electoral politics, stressing that victories and setbacks are a natural part of any political journey. Drawing from his own experience in Uttar Pradesh, he said there was a time when the Samajwadi Party won very few seats, but it remained among the people. “Sometimes the public gives us opportunities, and sometimes they give us a chance to introspect. You never know when the public will stand with you again,” he said, underlining the importance of perseverance and grassroots engagement.

Emphasising a broader political vision, Yadav called for development-oriented and positivity-driven politics. He said the country needs to move away from divisive narratives and towards constructive dialogue and inclusive growth. “We hope that divisive politics and negativity will end, and that there will be positive dialogue, development and progress. We will make every possible effort in that direction,” he said.

During his visit, Akhilesh Yadav also met Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and expressed hope that the new government would fulfill the promises made to the people. He added that he has spoken to KCR and intends to meet him soon, reaffirming that his Hyderabad visit was largely personal and rooted in long-standing relationships.

The meeting between KTR and Akhilesh Yadav, while non-political in form, carried a quiet political message: that setbacks are temporary, public support can return, and perseverance, positivity and people-centric politics remain central to long-term relevance.
