IndiGo Restores Full Operations, Focus Shifts to Strengthening Systems

New Delhi, Dec 2025 : IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers on Thursday confirmed that the airline has fully stabilised its operations after the recent large-scale disruption and is now operating 2,200 flights a day — restoring normalcy across its network.

In a video message to employees, Elbers said that the most difficult phase of the disruption has passed and that IndiGo teams worked tirelessly to rebuild operations over the past days.

“On December 9, I shared stabilisation of IndiGo’s operation. After that, we restored our network to 2200 flights today,” he said, calling it a significant milestone in the recovery process.

Elbers expressed deep appreciation for the collective effort of employees from all departments — including pilots, cabin crew, airport staff, customer service teams, operational control staff and ground units. He said the speed of the recovery demonstrates IndiGo’s strong culture of teamwork and its ability to manage complexity under pressure.

He noted that stabilising thousands of flight operations in a short period required coordination, discipline and commitment at every level. “Given our scale and complexity, recovering such situation in a short time is a testament to our teamwork and the strength of our operating principles,” he said.

Looking ahead, IndiGo will now shift its focus to three priority areas — building resilience to prevent future disruptions, conducting a detailed root cause analysis and rebuilding internal systems to make the organisation stronger. “Now we focus on three things; Resilience, Root cause analysis and Rebuilding,” Elbers said.

He also addressed rumours circulating about the disruption and advised employees to remain focused on facts and professional responsibilities. Elbers assured the workforce that transparency and clarity will guide the next steps.

To support the investigation, IndiGo’s board has appointed an external aviation expert for an independent and comprehensive review of what triggered the disruption and how systems can be strengthened to avoid recurrence.

Elbers noted that major international airlines have faced similar disruptions in the past, and while every situation is unique, global learnings will play an important role in improving IndiGo’s processes.

The leadership team, including Elbers, will now begin travelling across the network to meet staff personally, understand challenges faced in the recent weeks and listen to suggestions.

He said employee feedback, combined with professional analysis, will help reshape the airline into a stronger, more prepared organisation.

“Today, we are 65,000 proud IndiGo colleagues, and in these 19 years, over 850 million customers have chosen to fly with us,” Elbers said, reaffirming confidence in the airline’s long-term strength and reputation.
