Major Boost for Kushavart Kund Water Purification Project in Trimbakeshwar: Entire Kund to be Cleaned in 3 Hours
Nashik, December 2025 : In view of the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela, VIL Company has undertaken a major CSR initiative to purify and rejuvenate the holy Kushavart Kund in Trimbakeshwar. Kumbh Mela Authority Commissioner Shekhar Singh has directed that the work related to this important project be started immediately.
Millions of devotees visit Trimbakeshwar throughout the year, and during peak periods, the water quality in the kund deteriorates rapidly. To address this, the existing treatment capacity of 100 m³/hr will be increased to 300 m³/hr, making it possible to clean the entire kund in just three hours instead of the current nine hours. Water quality will be maintained in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the National Green Tribunal. The VIL Company will also be responsible for maintenance and repairs for the next 25 years.
During the presentation submitted by VIL on December 15, 2025, the company explained the technical details, increased treatment capacity, purification method, and implementation plan.
To start the project work, the municipal council will expedite procedures for site transfer, electricity supply, and related permissions. A follow-up meeting to discuss the progress of the project will be held through video conferencing at 12 noon on December 26, 2025.
Commissioner Shekhar Singh stated that the project is expected to be completed by the end of June. Once completed, the water in Kushavart Kund will remain consistently safe for bathing, ensuring better cleanliness and hygiene in the pilgrimage area.
