Patria And Germany Sign Two Serial Contracts Valued Over 2 Billion Euros Within The CAVS Programme.

Germany; December 2025: Patria and Germany have today concluded two procurement contracts within the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme, valued at over 2 billion Euros, comprising a firm order value that exceeds 1 billion Euros, plus options. These contracts involve the acquisition of up to 876 Patria 6×6 armoured vehicles in four different variants, including those equipped with the Patria NEMO turreted mortar system and Kongsberg RS4 remote control weapon system.

The deliveries will begin in 2026, followed up with Patria’s technology transfer to German industrial partners FFG, JWT and KNDS, with whom Patria signed the industrial teaming agreement in early 2024. The first fully locally built armoured vehicles will be delivered in 2027, and the full local production capacity will be established to meet possible future demands of the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces).

”I am pleased to announce that these CAVS contracts with Germany on Patria 6×6 and Patria NEMO represent the largest single deal in Patria’s history, making also our 6×6 armoured vehicle the European standard. Germany’s trust in Patria and in the CAVS, programme underscores a modern approach to multinational defence cooperation, fostering interoperable fleets and ensuring unprecedented security of supply through industrial cooperation. The German CAVS programme will contribute to the German Army’s ambition to reach full combat readiness by 2029, and Patria is proud to be part of this development,“ says President and CEO of Patria Esa Rautalinko.

Patria has decades of experience of carrying out technology transfer to several countries in three different continents. Together with our local German industry team we are ready and able to provide Bundeswehr all desired armoured vehicles and to build local security of supply“, says Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Protected Mobility business area.

Germany joined the CAVS programme in 2023 and has now proceeded to full scale supply phase. German solutions also offer new elements for other members to exploit.

Patria 6×6:

Patria 6×6 vehicle is built on the heritage of Patria’s iconic armoured wheeled vehicles that has been used in various peacekeeping and crises management missions and transporting soldiers around the world through several decades.

  • Survivability – STANAG level 2 ballistic and mine protection is optimized solution for protected troop transport and combat support roles. High payload capability ensures that there is enough payload even for optional enhanced STANAG level 4 ballistic and mine protection on various vehicle variants. High level of protection, unique mobility and the latest technology bring Patria 6×6 to deliver state-of-the-art protected troop transport capabilities to face the highest demands.
  • Mobility – Robust and fully independent suspension, which is similar to Patria AMV XP, together with high performance drive line, ensures unforeseen mobility and crew comfort in the 6×6 category. Patria 6×6 carries up to 10 soldiers in the rear plus a crew of two (driver and commander) in the front cabin; all their equipment being hosted inside the protected hull, and equipment being based on a 72-hour mission requirement. The vehicle has mobility optimised continuous all-wheel drive and steering by front two axles. Amphibious capability for water crossing and amphibious landing operations is available as an option.
  • Versatile and easy to use – Patria 6×6 is primarily designed for troop transport roles (APC), but is suitable to be configured for other combat support roles as well, such as Company Command vehicle, Medical Evacuation vehicle, Heavy APC and finally, the 120 mm Patria Nemo mortar system. An intuitive, truck-like user interface, good visibility and large internal volume make it easy to train and operate.
  • Affordable – Affordability in procurement together with low through-life costs throughout the long expected service life, more than 30 years, have been design guidelines for Patria 6×6. Vehicle maintenance, repair and system upgrades have been taken into account too. All this makes Patria 6×6 an affordable and highly reliable armoured wheeled vehicle.

The Finnish Defence Forces led CAVS programme currently consists of seven member nations: Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, The United Kingdom and Norway with the vehicles being also operational in Ukraine. Within the CAVS programme, the 6×6 armoured vehicle system development is led by Patria, that has more than four decades of experience in developing and delivering state-of-the-art protected troop transportation and system integration. Vast majority of supply of the vehicles is conducted by utilising the member nations’ local industry capabilities and every new nation is inherently reinforcing the security of supply for the whole collaboration system.

Patria has already received orders for nearly 2000 Patria 6×6 vehicles and has delivered more than 250 vehicles. The programme is open to European countries with similar equipment requirements, by mutual consent of the participating countries.
