US Welcomes Pakistan’s Consideration for Gaza Stabilization Force
Washington, Dec 2025 : The United States has expressed gratitude to Pakistan for considering participation in a proposed international stabilization force for Gaza, as Washington continues efforts to establish a post-conflict security framework for the Palestinian enclave.
Speaking at a year-end press conference, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, “We’re very grateful to Pakistan for their offer to be a part of it or at least their offer to consider being a part of it.” He emphasized that discussions with Pakistan and other potential contributors are still at a preliminary stage, with many operational details yet to be clarified.
“In fairness to all the countries we’ve talked to about having a presence on the ground, I think they want to know specifically what the mandate is and what the funding mechanism looks like,” Rubio noted. The Secretary added that once these details are defined, several nations are expected to step forward to contribute to the stabilization mission.
Rubio expressed confidence in the international interest, stating, “I feel very confident that we have a number of nation states acceptable to all sides in this conflict who are willing to step forward and be a part of that stabilization force.” He also underscored that Pakistan’s involvement would depend on further clarification regarding the mission’s scope and responsibilities.
“Certainly Pakistan is key if they agree to do so, but I think we owe them a few more answers before we get there,” Rubio said.
The Secretary outlined that the next step in the US-led efforts would involve establishing governance arrangements for Gaza. “The next step here is announcing the Board of Peace, announcing the Palestinian technocratic group that will help provide daily governance,” he explained. Once the governance structure is in place, discussions regarding the stabilization force, including funding, rules of engagement, and the role in demilitarization, can move forward.
The Gaza conflict began after Hamas launched attacks on Israel in October 2023, prompting a sustained Israeli military response. Since then, the United States has been actively engaged in ceasefire negotiations, facilitating humanitarian access, and shaping plans for post-war governance in the region.
US officials have stressed that any long-term arrangement must simultaneously prevent Hamas from re-emerging as a military threat while ensuring effective civilian administration and enabling reconstruction efforts. Rubio reiterated that the proposed stabilization force would play a critical role in this balance, providing security on the ground while supporting the development of a functional governance framework.
The potential involvement of Pakistan and other international partners is viewed as a vital step in ensuring that the stabilization mission is broadly supported and operationally effective. Rubio concluded that once the governance arrangements and operational parameters are defined, the stabilization force could be formally structured and deployed, offering a pathway toward durable peace and security for Gaza.
This approach reflects the US commitment to post-conflict reconstruction, humanitarian support, and long-term stability in the region, with international collaboration at the core of the plan.
