Rajasthan CM directs strict monitoring of cowsheds; ensures smooth fertiliser supply

Jaipur, December 2025 : Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has directed officials to ensure regular monitoring of registered cowsheds. He said that water, fodder, and other essential facilities must be closely audited to maintain better management and smooth operations.

The Chief Minister was chairing a joint review meeting of the Animal Husbandry (Gopalan) and Agriculture Departments at the CM Office on Friday. He asked officials to work in a planned manner to develop “model cowsheds”. He also instructed them to make cowsheds financially stronger by using new technologies, including running cow-wood machines, and to create awareness among cowshed committees about the use of cow-based products in Ayurvedic medicines.

Sharma emphasised that the management and operations of cowsheds should be made more organised and transparent. He said clear responsibility should be assigned to concerned committees, and effective plans should be created to improve functioning. He also urged officials to encourage donations, especially from philanthropists and the public, to expand cow protection activities.

The Chief Minister directed officials to conduct regular audits of mobile veterinary services for animal treatment. He said that real benefits must reach livestock owners through transparent functioning. Audit of vehicle routes and medicines supplied under this service must be ensured.

Reviewing fertiliser supply for the Rabi season, Sharma said that all necessary steps must be taken to ensure uninterrupted availability of urea and DAP for farmers. District Collectors have been instructed to identify areas with low supply and high demand, and ensure fair, transparent fertiliser distribution across the state.

He also asked the Agriculture and Cooperation Departments to prioritise fertiliser distribution through rural cooperative societies. Sharma stressed the need to promote organic farming and directed officials to organise a related programme in May–June next year. He also asked for a plan to train farmers in organic practices.

The CM said Rajasthan has the potential to become an agricultural hub. He asked officials to prepare marketing strategies to promote the state’s high-quality produce across India and abroad. He further directed that the distribution process of mini seed kits under the Mukhyamantri Seed Self-Reliance Scheme be made more transparent.

Officials informed that from October to December during Rabi 2025, fertiliser availability has been managed successfully. Against a state demand of 11.35 lakh metric tonnes of urea, 12.73 lakh metric tonnes have been supplied with support from the central government.

Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, Agriculture Principal Secretary Manju Rajpal, Gopalan Secretary Samit Sharma, and other officials attended the meeting.
