Lucknow, December 2025 : With the objective of ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organized educational environment for students in the council schools of the state, the basic education department has issued instructions to all districts. According to the order issued by the Director General, School Education, Monika Rani, it will be mandatory to strengthen cleanliness, guide-binding work, and basic infrastructure facilities in schools before 26 January 2026.
As per the instructions, on the occasion of Republic Day, to celebrate the national festival in a dignified manner in every school, the school premise should be kept completely clean and safe. Under this, directions have also been given to ensure regular and comprehensive cleaning of all places including the school building, classrooms, office rooms, verandas, toilets, drinking water points, kitchen, etc. Special attention will be given to proper disposal of garbage and waste materials.
The department has issued instructions to prioritize repair work in schools where buildings or any other infrastructure is damaged. Special directions have been given to ensure the timely completion of functional toilets, clean drinking water arrangements, and other necessary repair works, so that students do not face any inconvenience.
The Director General has also issued instructions for 100 percent compliance of basic infrastructure facilities on the 19 prescribed points under operation Kayakalp. In schools where work on these points is incomplete, all necessary works will be completed before 26 January 2026.
Monika Rani, Director General, School Education said, “Monitoring of compliance with the instructions will be done at the district level. District Basic Education Officers have been asked to ensure regular review of schools and continuous monitoring of progress. Our objective is that schools should not remain limited only to teaching-learning, but should become examples of cleanliness, safety, and discipline, so that students can get a safe, clean, and conducive educational environment.”
