A Confluence of Global Culinary Cultures at Maharashtra Sadan
Thirty Renowned Chefs from Across the World Praise the State’s Hospitality
New Delhi, January 2026 : Maharashtra Sadan, the grand edifice in the national capital, has carved a distinct identity for itself at the global level through its impressive architecture and high standards of protocol and hospitality. A high-level delegation of 30 eminent chefs from various countries around the world paid a goodwill visit to Maharashtra Sadan on Tuesday. The international guests were deeply impressed by Maharashtra’s grandeur and warm hospitality.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Ms. R. Vimala, Resident Commissioner and Secretary of Maharashtra Sadan. During a specially organised programme, she introduced the foreign guests to the rich cultural and historical heritage of Maharashtra, highlighting the state’s traditions and values.
During the visit, the culinary experts from countries such as Australia, Ukraine, Macedonia, Malaysia, Maldives, South Africa, Serbia, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Vietnam, France, Dubai (UAE), Kenya, Mauritius and Indonesia, among others, toured the architectural premises of Maharashtra Sadan. Ms. R. Vimala elaborated on the diversity of Maharashtra and the global significance of its renowned Maharashtrian culinary tradition.
A special highlight of the event was the presentation of traditional lamps (diyas) to all the guests by the Resident Commissioner as a mark of honour. The guests expressed heartfelt joy while receiving the lamps, which symbolise light and positivity in Indian culture.
The foreign dignitaries also experienced the authentic flavours of Maharashtra. They savoured traditional Marathi delicacies such as Shrikhand, Puran Poli, Zunka-Bhakri, and Kadhi with Masala Bhaat, leaving the global chefs thoroughly delighted. Additionally, a special programme featuring Hindi songs was organised for their entertainment, during which the guests enthusiastically joined in and enjoyed Indian music.
Speaking on the occasion, Resident Commissioner R. Vimala said that hosting such creative and talented chefs from different parts of the world was a matter of great pride for the Government of Maharashtra. She noted that such interactions strengthen not only culinary exchange but also cultural bonds and goodwill between nations.
Members of the delegation expressed sincere appreciation for the protocol, cleanliness, and heartfelt hospitality at Maharashtra Sadan. The event was attended by Assistant Resident Commissioner Nitin Shende, Assistant Resident Commissioner Smita Shelar, Public Relations Officer of the Maharashtra Information Centre Manisha Pingale, and other senior officials of Maharashtra Sadan.
