No Shortage of Resources for Healthcare: CM Bhajanlal Sharma
Jaipur, January 2026 : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that healthcare is a sector deeply connected with compassion and human sensitivity. Over the past two years, the state government has accorded the highest priority to health in its budget and will continue to ensure that there is no shortage of resources for the sector in the future. He said the government has significantly strengthened healthcare infrastructure, enabling quality and free medical treatment to reach even villages and remote hamlets across the state.
The Chief Minister said that the objective of the pre-budget dialogue is to incorporate suggestions from experts so that a budget can be framed which ensures excellent healthcare services for over 8 crore people of the state and helps Rajasthan emerge as a leader in the health sector.
Mr. Sharma was interacting with representatives from the medical and health sector during a pre-budget consultation held at the Chief Minister’s Office on Friday. Quoting the scriptures, he said, “The first happiness is a healthy body,” emphasizing that good health is the greatest wealth. Guided by this philosophy, the Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya Yojana implemented in the state has become a model for the entire country. Under the scheme, 37 lakh patients have so far received cashless treatment worth Rs 7,300 crore. Similarly, Rajasthan ranks first in the country in providing medicines, surgical items, and sutures under the Chief Minister Free Medicine Scheme. Special Ramashray wards have been opened in district hospitals for senior citizens, ensuring dignified and dedicated healthcare services for them.
The Chief Minister said healthcare is a service-oriented field where every patient must receive sensitive and quality treatment with the sole aim of saving lives. Doctors and all healthcare personnel should discharge their duties with dedication and integrity. He assured that the state government would not fall short in honouring sincere and service-oriented health workers, but strict action would be taken against those involved in misuse of public funds or irregularities in health schemes.
Highlighting the government’s focus on medical education, Mr. Sharma said special attention is being paid to improving its quality to ensure the availability of well-trained healthcare professionals. Seven new medical colleges have been opened in the state, while 15 more are under construction. Nursing colleges have been established in Bhilwara, Dholpur, Pratapgarh, Nathdwara, and Bundi, and efforts are being made to promote research and innovation in the healthcare sector.
He further stated that to strengthen healthcare services at the grassroots level, several initiatives have been undertaken. Over the past two years, 14 institutions, including sub-district hospitals, satellite hospitals, and community health centres, have been upgraded to district hospitals, and seven new satellite hospitals have been established. Additionally, 129 sub-health centres have been upgraded to primary health centres, around 8,700 medical institutions have been transformed into Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, and 412 urban Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are operational. New district Ayurveda hospitals have also been started in several locations.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister carefully listened to the suggestions of the participants and assured that sincere efforts would be made to incorporate them into the upcoming budget.
