IPRP&S Minister Visits Agartala Mizo Welfare Association, Reviews Key Initiatives
Aizawl, January 2026: Today, Tripura’s IPRP&S Minister, Pu B. Lalchhanzova, visited the Agartala Mizo Welfare Association (AMWA), interacting with its members and providing guidance. During the meeting, over 5,000 attendees from various Mizo communities, including Zo, Hmar, and Ngotekherh groups, participated, and two important documents were released.
The Minister acknowledged the significant presence and contributions of the Mizo community in Tripura and highlighted the strong cultural and social bonds that continue to connect them with Mizoram. He emphasized measures to enhance connectivity, particularly initiatives to improve services between Agartala and Aizawl, including access to Zampui Tlangdung, Kanhmun, and other areas in Mizoram.
Pu Lalchhanzova also discussed plans to enhance transport services, including the possibility of direct Sumo services and air connectivity between Lengpui (Aizawl) and Agartala. He noted that the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, had approved the proposal for direct flights, which would significantly improve accessibility and strengthen ties between the two regions.
Pu Gospel Lalthangmawia, Assistant Secretary of AMWA, expressed appreciation for the Minister’s visit. He noted that the initiatives discussed would support education, skill development, and social welfare programs for Mizo residents in Tripura, and acknowledged the proactive role of the Mizoram government in facilitating these efforts.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to strengthen cultural, educational, and transport linkages for Mizos living outside Mizoram, ensuring they remain connected with their heritage while benefiting from government support in Tripura.
