Maharashtra Pollution Control Board’s ‘Eco Bappa Mobile App’ Launched by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde

Mumbai : Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, launched the ‘Eco Bappa’ mobile app at Sahyadri State Guest House. This initiative, in collaboration with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and the Department of Environment and Climate Change, is part of a series of awareness activities promoting an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav.

In response to the increasing demand for eco-friendly Ganesha idols, decorations, and ornaments, the ‘Eco Bappa’ app has been developed to help citizens find manufacturers of eco-friendly idols. The app, available for free on the Google Play Store, provides information on purchasing eco-friendly Ganesha idols, ornaments, decorative materials, and artificial ponds for immersion.

To promote this year’s eco-friendly festival, the board has also created radio jingles and videos under the concept ‘Shahanpan Dega Deva,’ featuring a young child delivering an innovative message about celebrating an eco-friendly festival. This campaign was also launched by the Chief Minister.

The event was attended by School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board Chairman Siddhesh Kadam, Environment and Climate Change Department Principal Secretary Pravin Darade, and M.P.N Board Member Secretary Dr. Avinash Dhakne. Divisional Commissioners, Municipal Commissioners, and District Collectors participated via video conferencing. Chief Minister Shinde directed them to implement comprehensive measures for celebrating an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav.

The meeting at Sahyadri Guest House also included prominent office bearers of Public Ganeshotsav Mandals and representatives from various social organizations.
