First Ever in Madhya Pradesh Police History: 15 Gallantry Medals Awarded in a Single Year
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav spearheading the effort to eradicate Naxal activities in Madhya Pradesh, has directed the state police to implement effective measures. On the eve of Independence Day, the Government of India announced the award of gallantry medals to 12 officers and personnel from the Madhya Pradesh Police. This recognition comes in response to the neutralization of 6 hardcore Naxalites in 4 encounters during anti-Naxal operations, with 11 officers and personnel set to receive the “Gallantry Medal” for their bravery and intelligence. Additionally, another officer will receive a medal for a separate case. On January 25, 2024, three gallantry medals were also announced in honor of Republic Day. Consequently, a total of 14 gallantry medals have been awarded for anti-Naxal operations this year, with a 15th medal granted for another case, marking a historic achievement for the Madhya Pradesh Police.
On the eve of Independence Day, it has been announced to award President’s Distinguished Service Medal to 4 police officers of the state and Commendable Service Medal to 14. On the announcement of these awards, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav and DGP Shri Sudhir Saxena have congratulated all the officers and personnel to be awarded the medals. The medals will be given on the Independence Day celebrations next year i.e. on 15 August 2025. This is the first occasion in the history of Madhya Pradesh Police when brave police personnel are being honored with 15 gallantry medals in a single year. These medals are not only a symbol of courage, patience and enthusiasm of the winners, but it also reflects the effective leadership of Madhya Pradesh Police.
These will get the gallantry medal
ADG (Intelligence) Shri Jaideep Prasad said that the gallantry medal has been announced to be given to Superintendent of Police Shri Sameer Saurabh, Sub Inspector Shri Motiur Rahman, Sub Inspector Shri Puneet Gehlot, Inspector Shri Ashish Sharma, Sub Inspector Shri Mohammad Ayub Khan, Sub Inspector Shri Ashish Sharma, Sub Inspector Shri Mohanlal Marawi, Sub Inspector Shri Namdev Sharma, Assistant Sub Inspector Shri Rajesh Dhurve, Assistant Sub Inspector Shri Arun Mishra, Assistant Sub Inspector Shri Atul Kumar Shukla and Head Constable Shri Hanumant Tekam. On the eve of Republic Day this year, it was announced to give gallantry medals to three jawans of Madhya Pradesh Police, which included Inspector Shri Anshuman Singh Chauhan, Head Constable Shri Atul Kumar Shukla and Head Constable Shri Manoj Kumar Kapse. It is noteworthy that Assistant Sub Inspector Atul Kumar Shukla has received the gallantry medal twice in the past and Inspector Ashish Sharma has also been announced to receive two gallantry medals.
These will receive the President’s Distinguished Service Medal
The President’s Distinguished Service Medal has been announced to be given to Additional Director General of Police Shri Chanchal Shekhar, Inspector General of Police Shri Arvind Kumar Saxena, Inspector General of Police Shri Rajesh Kumar Hingankar and Superintendent of Police Shri Ramadhar Bhardwaj.
These will get the Commendable Service Medal
The Commendable Service Medal will be given to Deputy Inspector General of Police Shri Pankaj Shrivastava, Deputy Inspector General of Police Shri Rajesh Singh, Deputy Inspector General of Police Shri Vineet Kapoor, Deputy Commander Sushri Anjana Tiwari, Superintendent of Police Shri Yogeshwar Sharma, Additional Superintendent of Police Shri Mahavir Singh Mujaldev, Assistant Inspector General of Police Smt. Irmin Shah, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shri Sanjay Kumar Dubey, Inspector Shri Suresh Kumar Bajanghate, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shri Manvendra Singh Kushwah, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shri Ravi Kumar Dwivedi, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shri Praveen Narayan Baghel, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shri Surendra Singh Sikarwar and Sub Inspector Shri Shailendra Singh Rajput.
Naxalites were neutralized in encounters
In the last 5 years, brave commandos of Hawk Force in the state have neutralized 20 hardcore Naxalites carrying a bounty of Rs. 3.17 crore in various encounters.
1) SI Namdev Sharma, ASI Arun Mishra, ASI Atul Kumar Shuklam for killing Naxalite ACM Chatu alias Hidma Madkam during an encounter in Kamkodadar forest area of District Balaghat on 14.12.2023
2) Superintendent of Police Balaghat Shri Sameer Saurabh, Commander Hawk Force Moti Ur Rehman, Inspector Ashish Sharma, SI Mohanlal Maravi, ASI Rajesh Dhurve for killing Naxalite ACM Sarita and ACM Sunita in an encounter in Kadla forest area on 22.04.2023
3) SI Ashish Sharma and head constable Hanumant Tekam for killing Naxalite ACM Rupesh alias Hunga in an encounter in Harratola forest on 18.12.2022
4) It has been announced that all the above mentioned persons including the then commander of Hawkforce (Superintendent of Police Barwani) Puneet Gehlot will be awarded gallantry medals for their courage and intelligence in killing Naxalite DVCM Ganesh and ACM Commander Rajesh Banjam in an encounter in Jamsehra forest on 30.11.2022. A reward of Rs. 99 lakh was declared on the Naxalites killed in the encounters. 101 government servants who played a significant role in these encounters have been given out of turn promotion.
5) Inspector Shri Mohd. Ayub Khan risked his life and killed a notorious criminal of triple murder in Ratlam who had a reward of Rs. 30,000 on his head in an encounter. Shri Khan will be awarded the gallantry medal for his bravery.
