Directions issued to officials to strictly enforce environmental norms in Faridabad, Palwal and Nuh

Chandigarh, January 2026 – An important review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) Member Secretary Sh. Yogesh Kumar with officers of Faridabad, Palwal and Nuh districts. The meeting, organised in Faridabad, involved detailed discussions on various issues related to environmental protection and pollution control.

Senior officers from key departments including Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA), Municipal Corporation Faridabad (MCF), Municipal Councils of Nuh and Palwal, Irrigation Department, and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) were present in the meeting.

The primary objective of the meeting was to control increasing industrial, air and water pollution in the region and to ensure restoration of natural resources, including the Yamuna River. Sh. Yogesh Kumar directed all departments to take strict and time-bound action with effective inter-departmental coordination.

Regarding industrial and air pollution, Sh. Yogesh Kumar instructed HSPCB and DHBVN to immediately shut down illegally operating industrial units in Sarurpur and surrounding areas. Strict action will be taken without any leniency against units that are not using approved fuel or do not have Air Pollution Control Devices (APCDs).

For the protection of the Yamuna River, instructions were issued to the Police Department and Municipal Corporation Faridabad to launch a special campaign against tankers illegally discharging sewage into drains. The Irrigation Department was directed to install fencing along drains and create physical barriers to prevent garbage dumping. Directions were also issued to construct dedicated ghats to prevent waste generated from religious activities from entering the river.

Under enforcement and recovery measures, it was decided that legal action will be initiated against landowners who allow illegal industrial units to operate on their premises. Units with pending Environmental Compensation (EC) dues will have their Consent to Operate (CTO) cancelled, and the pending amount will be recovered as land revenue.

Regarding plastic and solid waste management, Sh. Yogesh Kumar directed Municipal Corporation Faridabad and HSPCB to intensify seizure and challan action against wholesalers dealing in banned single-use plastic. He also instructed Urban Local Bodies and HSIIDC to expand waste collection systems and strengthen monitoring to prevent open burning of waste and illegal dumping.

It was clearly stated in the meeting that environmental protection is among the top priorities of the government, and strict action will be ensured against any form of pollution or violation of norms to restore a clean, safe, and sustainable environment in the region.

Additional Municipal Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Faridabad, Sh. Gaurav Antil; SDM Badkhal Sh. Trilok Chand; SDM Ballabgarh Sh. Mayank Bhardwaj, along with officers from other concerned departments, were present in the review meeting.
