Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar Inaugurates Flyover on Sinhagad Road in Pune
Pune : Deputy Chief Minister and District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar emphasized that efforts are being made by the central and state governments to alleviate traffic congestion in the city by constructing roads and flyovers.
He made these remarks during the inauguration of the new flyover constructed by the Pune Municipal Corporation at Rajaram Bridge Chowk on Sinhagad Road. Present at the event were MP Medha Kulkarni, MLAs Bhimrao Tapkir and Madhuri Misal, President of the State Commission for Women Rupali Chakankar, Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosle, Additional Commissioner Prithviraj BP, Chief Engineer Yuvraj Deshmukh, and other dignitaries.
Mr. Pawar stated that the state government is working to secure significant funds from the central government for the state’s development. Numerous projects are currently underway through the Road Development Corporation. A control room has been established in the Deputy Chief Minister’s office to expedite ongoing projects across the state. Coordination is required among various bodies such as the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporations, Maharashtra State Industrial Corporation, Pune Metropolitan Development Authority, and others to facilitate these development projects. Additionally, a Metro network is being constructed in various areas of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.
He also mentioned that the traffic congestion problem had been previously addressed with the construction of a bridge at Chandni Chowk. The new terminal at Pune Airport has been inaugurated, and work is progressing to expedite the bypass construction. The theater project on Sinhagad Road is expected to be completed in the coming year, with a sanctioned fund of Rs. 35 crores.
As Pune’s population continues to grow, issues such as water supply and transportation are becoming more prominent, causing distress to citizens. Mr. Pawar emphasized that Pune residents deserve better facilities, including relief from traffic congestion, so they can reach their destinations on time. A review meeting will be held soon to address the traffic issues.
Regarding the flooding that occurs on Sinhagad Road due to water released from Khadakwasla Dam, plans are being made to construct a permanent road in the affected area to prevent inconvenience to residents. Mr. Pawar also mentioned that an immediate decision would be taken on the proposal submitted by the Pune Municipal Corporation concerning the cluster development area at Ektanagar. He urged those in the construction sector to avoid dumping debris into the riverbed.
A Unique Gift for Pune Residents on Independence Day
The infrastructural development of Pune city, known as the educational, cultural, and industrial capital of the state, has been furthered with the inauguration of this flyover. Mr. Pawar remarked that this project serves as a unique gift to the people of Pune on Independence Day. The first phase of the flyover has been completed, and efforts are underway to complete the second phase as quickly as possible.
35 Lakh Women Benefited Under Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana
Under the Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, launched for the empowerment of women, nearly 35 lakh mothers and sisters have received Rs 3,000 each during July and August. Efforts are being made to extend these benefits to 50 lakh women within the next two days, bringing a sense of satisfaction among women, Mr. Pawar noted.
MLA Madhuri Misal added that the construction of the bridge on Sinhagad Road aims to ease the burden of traffic congestion for citizens. The necessary pillars for the future metro line passing through this area have also been completed. Mrs. Misal assured that various infrastructural facilities would be developed in the city with the support of public representatives and the administration.
Dr. Rajendra Bhosle informed that a flyover is being constructed between Rajaram Bridge on Sinhagad Road and Funtime Cinema, with 520 meters near Rajaram Bridge being inaugurated today. This new flyover will alleviate traffic congestion, saving both fuel and time for citizens. Dr. Bhosle also mentioned that the remaining work on the bridge will be completed soon.
