86th All India Presiding Officers’ Conference and 62nd Secretaries’ Conference Held in Lucknow

Lucknow, Jan 2026 : The 86th All India Presiding Officers’ Conference and the 62nd Secretaries’ Conference of Legislative Bodies in India, 2026 were held on January 19, 2026, at the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Lucknow. From the Mizoram Legislative Assembly, Speaker Pu Lalbiakzama, Deputy Speaker Pu Lalfamkima, and Additional Secretary Pu Lalthangmawia attended the conference.

The conference was presided over by Lok Sabha Speaker Pu Om Birla. Officials from the Parliament of India and various State Legislative Assemblies, including Speakers, Deputy Speakers, and other legislative officers, participated in the deliberations.

The conference focused on three key themes:

1. Leveraging Technology for Transparent, Efficient, and Citizen-Centric Legislative Processes
2. Capacity Building of Legislators to Increase Efficiency and Strengthen Democratic Governance
3. Accountability of Legislatures Towards the People

During the sessions, Deputy Speaker Pu Lalfamkima highlighted the importance of capacity building for legislators to strengthen democracy and enhance legislative efficiency.
