Davos, Jan 2026 : At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Jharkhand showcased its forward-looking development agenda under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The state is positioning itself as a young, progressive region committed to sustainable growth, social responsibility, and development in harmony with nature.

Shri Azim Premji, former Chairman of Wipro Limited and current Chairman of the Azim Premji Foundation, welcomed Jharkhand’s vision, commending the state’s clarity, seriousness, and institutional commitment in pursuing development priorities. He emphasized that Jharkhand’s approach provides a promising model for responsible governance, balancing growth with social equity.
Shri Premji highlighted the Foundation’s ongoing initiatives in Jharkhand as a demonstration of long-term confidence in the state. These include establishing a university, a 1,300-bed hospital, a medical college, and a school in Ranchi’s Itki region—projects that represent significant investments in both education and healthcare infrastructure. These initiatives are designed to strengthen Jharkhand’s human development ecosystem and provide sustainable benefits to communities across the state.
He further acknowledged the proactive support provided by the Jharkhand government, noting that the Foundation experienced an active, collaborative, and constructive engagement process throughout its projects. Shri Premji described this partnership with the state administration as highly positive and extended an open invitation to investors, both from India and abroad, to explore the opportunities Jharkhand offers.
Expressing optimism about the state’s future, he conveyed his best wishes for Jharkhand’s continued progress and inclusive growth. He emphasized that the state’s strong focus on social infrastructure, human capital development, and responsible governance can serve as a model for other regions aiming to achieve sustainable and equitable growth.
The integrated campus being developed by the Azim Premji Foundation in Itki, Ranchi—with its university, medical college, 1,300-bed hospital, and school—represents one of the most significant social infrastructure investments in the state. These initiatives are expected to have a lasting impact on Jharkhand’s education and healthcare sectors, enhancing the state’s capacity to nurture skilled talent and improve overall quality of life.
Through such collaborations and its visionary development agenda, Jharkhand is steadily establishing itself as a destination for sustainable growth, inclusive development, and long-term investment opportunities.
